i have been here at this site for close to a year now and i don't really know what ticks me off worse..the saints losing or these punk a** fair weather fans on this site..halo should make a separate board like saint bashers or something cause you guys are sad..whodat,saintfan,gatorman..i have stayed on this message board because of you guys ..you provide more info on the saints faster than the papers it seems and really seem to know what your saying but the respect i had for you guys has deminished big time..i have been a saints fan for 22 years now..born and raised..and have always stuck by them..and you know how bad it has been in the past!this negativity you guys talk now does nothing but hurt the team..its hard to do what they do..harder than you realize in all of your brilliant saint disecting that you do..go post that crap somewhere else..i thoght this was a saints "fans"site?!?no way will i ever be a fair weather fan cause if the saints leave...god forbid...i would probably stop watching football and you guys might say..damn..dont know what you got till its gone..i mean..are you gonna dog them when they are the L.A. Is it really negativity if it is the truth? This team is bad. Why should we as fans not have the right to be upset? Out of all the years the Saints have been around there has never been the expectations there have been on this team in the past 3-4 years. I dont think there is a person here that hasnt been through thick and thin with this team. I dont see anyone saying there no longer fans, or that they dont love this team anymore. We are simply saying that this team hasnt lived up to the expectations that the organization, coaching staff, and players have hyped up. Is there a problem with a fan questioning some of the moves and decisions of the organization? Should we just sit silently by and just say OK wait till next season?

To answer your question with a question. Have you heard of home field advantage? Well the saint don\'t have it. They play better away from the so call saint\'s fan. What is a million dollar if you can\'t enjoy spending your money in the city that you repesent. you have people in the city heckling you in front of your family. The most important thing to be positive bout is a team that repesent this high state taxes, low market area.

I appreciate your concern with the relationship with our team. I too have problems understanding this relationship. I\'ve even posted material about it before on this website.

As for the recent negativity: just look at the team! We\'re 2-4 with losses to two of the worst teams in the league! The defense is one of the worst in the league! We make stupid mistakes/penalties! The team\'s chemistry is sinking downhill at an ever increasing rate! The fans and media agree that our head coach\'s job may be on the line! The team is in absolute disarray! What\'s there to be positive about?

I think I can speak for every other member on the board when I say that I love the Saints to death, and I desparately want to see them succeed, something that has never worked out for our Saints. It\'s frustrating to see this team struggle and lose the way we do. And I\'m tired of it. Many members here feel that not enough is being done to make this team a playoff contender.

Do the Saints even have any \"fair weather fans?\" When was there fair weather for this team (dome jokes aside)? OK, maybe the 2000 season. Any fair weather fans from then would be long gone by now after the last three years of pain. The people posting at this site are nearly all die-hard, lifelong Saints fans, or we wouldn\'t be here. On this site, we don\'t (usually) insult our team; the team insults itself and the fans by consistently underachieving. Having said that, you wouldn\'t hear me booing Aaron Brooks at a game. I agree that booing your own team or one of its players is inappropriate and counterproductive. However, what we do here on this forum is different. We are searching for answers, looking for reasons, and just generally commiserating with each other. If the team or the staff is reading our comments and it upsets them, then so be it--it\'s not at all the same as booing in the \'Dome.

Beeobee............. man... I can see where you`re coming from, but let me say this.... I`ve been on this site for 3 years now, and these guys love the Saints just like you. Sometimes their comments and expressions can be seen as negative, but I can assure you, these fellows are hard core fans that want the best for our team. It`s kinda like me saying something negative about one of my family members....but if someone else outside the family said the same thing...it would be fighting words.
Also, this year expectations were high for our team to be at lest 1-5 right now. We all believed that the talent was in place to take us to the next level ; a playoff contender...... that light is fading...and it`s frustrating. And when fans get frustrated they start finger pointing....not out of disloyalty, but out of frustration of fading expectations.

Our offense fought hard to keep us in the game against the Vikes. I applaud their efforts..... and if the defense could have come up with a stop there in the last 3 minutes, we a had a shot to tie the game. I`m not real sure why our defensive coordinator thought it was smart to let Daunte stand back there with all the time he needed......but....I`ll save that for another thread.

It\'s not fair weather to criticize. All the fair weather fans have already left the building.

Every season I do my best to find the positive qualities of the team. You can check out my posts during the preseason as evidence.

However the team has played for 6 weeks now. Barring three magnificent offensive drives in the 4th quarter and OT, this is a team that would be 0-6.

It doesn\'t hurt the team to tell the truth. The defense is non existant, and the offense is its own worst enemy with fumblitis, dropitis, penaltyitis, and any other itis you can think of. The team is undisciplined, and lacks both sufficient coaching and scheme on both sides of the ball to be successful. While it\'s all negative, it\'s the truth. And the truth needs to be said.

I first started watching the Saints in 1972 in Tulane Stadium. I went to every game in town as a kid until I moved away. I\'ve been to every Saints home playoff game, driving down for the priviledge. I live in Atlanta, hated Falcons territory and I have to put up with the taunts of Falcons fans whose team had the guts to do what we need to do now: Fire the coaching staff and start over.

So just because I\'m telling the truth, don\'t accuse me of being a fair weather fan.

My son is that person. Won\'t even watch the games anymore. Just calls them losers.

I definitely want to cosign on this one. Brooks could be a brilliant QB in the right system. But it\'s clear now that he isn\'t in the right system. I hope that Loomis and Benson don\'t make the mistake of getting rid of the wrong people. We will regret it.

I feel where you\'re coming from. But if you check the negative posts, you\'ll find that most folks here are trying to solve the problem. We just get frustrated because there\'s no apparent change from week to week. Here\'s some examples.

1) On defense it\'s clear that nothing so far has worked. So do something else, like blitz the hell out of the opposition. Like chuck every receiver on the line every play. Just do something different than letting the QB sit back for 6-7 seconds at a time picking apart the secondary.

2) On offense give every player a one strike rule. Screw up and you\'ll be pulled for that game and you\'ll be inactive for the next. And that goes from everyone from Brooks down.

3) Find a bread and butter play that exploits all of your options. For example Indy has the stretch handoff play to James. James can run outside, or cut back, or Manning can keep the ball. It\'s presents options, therefore it presents problems. The Saints bread and butter play is either the srtaight power I with Deuce, or Brooks standing in the pocket trying to make a play. Our offense simplifies the job for the opposing defense. Be deceptive by putting the ball into Deuce\'s belly EVERY PLAY. Try a trap, a cut back. Try decoying Karney instead of a straight run every time he\'s in the game.

Anyway the point is that if the same ole, same ole, isn\'t working, then scrap it and try something new.

And a double cosign on Brooks and the rest of the offense. When your team gives up 605 yards of offense and 5 TDs, and only loses by 7, then your offense has to be doing something right.

I think your anger is misdirected. Be mad at the front office, coaching staff, and players for making your team this bad. I didn\'t make the team this bad. I want them to be 16-0. But no matter how you dress it up, crap is crap.

Listen, I understand your anger, but don\'t start calling members of this board out for being fans. I carry my badge in a saints holder and wear it on my belt every day (and I live in Chicago). I carry a Saints pen all day. I have a Saints sticker on the car I drive every day. I have a helmet in my office. I didn\'t miss a home game for the last 4 years I lived in NO. I have over 3,000 posts on this board. I bleed black and gold, so before you start calling guys out for not being fans, think about why you\'re mad.

Now, what exactly is there to be happy about right now? A few things - but not nearly as much as there is to be disappointed or upset about. You think we have fair weather fans? The Dome was sold out despite the Saints playing against all odds Sunday night, was it not? It sounded real loud in there to me almost all game. You think our fans are the only ones that boo? Turn on a Bears game. They were 13-3 three years ago. They won a Super Bowl in most fans lifetimes. Our fans are amongst the most loyal in pro sports. The Cubs are the lovable losers - well our team isn\'t loveable. It\'s infuriating, it makes me physically ill some times, and we endure more pain than most. I keep coming back every year. So take that \"fair weather\" crap, and stick it where the sun don\'t shine... and I don\'t mean the Saints locker room.

I second that WhoDat. As long as I have been reading this site one thing is common and obvious, EVERYONE IS A SAINTS FAN AND LOVES THIS TEAM. There is not one sell-out on this board and it is a disgrace to say so. I like the analogy that was used on the Saints being like a relative that you can talk about, but if anyone else does, \"Dem\'s fighting words.\" That is more true than anyoen would believe. I live in Texas, San Antonio and have to hear daily how well the Texans, an expansion team no less, and Cowboys are doing. Shouldn\'t it be frustrating to me that another expansion team looks like it will get to the Superbowl before my beloved Saints? The Panthers have already done it even though they have long since stopped being labeled an expansion team. But these teams have gone farther than the Saints, even the Jags. Do I not have the right to be upset? Don\'t we all? Doesn\'t make anyone a fairweather fan.

Growing up in New Orleans I could never even dream of supporting another team and I can\'t to this day. NOONE on this site wants the Saints to move to LA. If fans are selling out the dome with the crap that is being put on the field right now, they don\'t have the right to boo? During the Titans game I heard Brett Favre getting booed. BRETT FAVRE!!! Surely he has done more for the Pack than anyone in their team history and he was getting booed so I am to believe Brooks is above getting booed? Come on. You obviously have mistaken everyone\'s pain at seeing this team underachieve again and perceived it as apathy, indifference, or becoming traitors. You could not be more wrong. It hurts my heart to have to write negativity about the Saints, and it hurts even more cause it is the truth.

Ok, I tried to avoid this.

I agree that the negativity has its place. Well made arguments, whether positive or negative (and straight up info) are all I look for on this board. Sure, some guys have other guys they like to pick on, etc. but that is just part of the entertainment value.

That said, I think there are two things of note:

This is right, but you\'ll note that it says MOST FOLKS. I would say this - MOST FOLKS MOST OF THE TIME. I\'ll tell you what I find annoying and agree with right here in this post - it sucks to come on here after the game hoping to have some legitimate discussion and find that many threads are simply overrun with people saying things like this teams sucks hard and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. This makes it very hard to discuss at all! In fact, there is no point in saying anything until two or three days later in most cases. This means that the board that is for all of us is overrun by some of us. Everyone has their own way of venting after the loss - for some it is to rant and rave, for others it is too look for the positives. These are just two different ways to express our love for the team (I don\'t see why one is better or worse than the other - but I do see that it is bad if one way blocks/runs off the other).

(2) I personally think that sometimes the nay saying gets over the top, but there are things about the team that do in fact suck. Why lie to ourselves or yourself for that matter. There are so very few people on this board who thought our secondary would be good this year, there are also very few people who thought that we\'d improved significantly against the run. The \"negative\" types go a long way in making sure the \"positive\" types keep their feet on the ground. The \"positive\" types open discussions on very interesting things for the \"negative\" types to jump on. This seems to be the culture here, and I\'m ok with that. However, I feel that some very good posters get sick of RIDICULOUS I-told-ya-so\'s and people simply saying nothing but what sounds like \"suck, suck, suck, suck...\" and if that means they won\'t be comin\' round, I say so much the worse for EVERYONE.

There are my two cents as a fine colleague here likes to say.

I\'m speculating, but I know Danno was tired of the Brooks debate, however I think it went a bit further. He was not allowed to post anything positive without being hit over the head and told how crazy he was.

The hypocricacy is staggering, but that\'s all I\'m gonna say about it for now.

I also find it interesting, being that the Dome was filled (with an extension of course) that some on this very web site (and others) and a particular media guy with a speech problem were clamoring for fans to refuse to go to games and to turn in their season tickets. I just don\'t see how this helps the team OR the organization.

Even the announcers Sunday night made mention of how the \"fans\" boo the QB for EVERYthing. That\'s where my \"agenda\" talk sprang from (in spite of what you may hear)...people wanting to blame Brooks for EVERYthing of Haz for things absolutely beyond his control...or insinuating the Saints are a Mickey Mouse organization when other teams, players, and coaches go through the same scenarios.

I mean, they\'re ready to hang the great Parcells here in Dallas. Go figure.

Hey Frank - what\'s worse is when people tell you all dogs take a dump at some point, your dog is no different. Nevermind the fact that other dogs learn to be house broken while your third rug is ruined - if your dog takes yet another dump maybe you should consider how other great dogs have performed. Ok, a bunch of things:

(1) This was ambiguous, so I\'ll be clearer (though this has nothing to do with anything that followed my post, it dawned on me it could be taken the wrong way): \"ridiculous \'I-told-ya-so\'s\" did not refer to the people but the content of the \'I-told-ya-so\'s\'. For example, \"I told ya they\'d find a way to screw up\". Well, that is like astrology - if you make the claim broad enough, surely it will apply sooner or later.

(2) On a different note, no one thinks that criticizing the team is bad; we all do our share. It is the manner in which people criticize other posters on which I was commenting. I was also claiming that running people off is not good - I\'m sure we all agree on that. There are certain behaviors (kinds of posts) that make me not want to bother posting here - I\'m sure that is true of others (thus, the recent bunch of posts about being a true fan - whatever that means).

(3) It seems to me that writing criticisms of the team on a discussion board is for the purpose of discussion. I\'m willing to bet that no coach, player, GM, etc. is getting their noses rubbed in ANYTHING by us writing things here. I guess, I just don\'t get that point.

(4) I suppose that lauding Karney is stupid, since we lost the game? I think he played great, that is positive, isn\'t it? Is it pointless even mentioning it, since there is NOTHING good to say about losing? I guess, I don\'t get that either.
