This will be Atlantas Super Bowl

Or at least it will be like a playoff game for them. They just can't wait to knock us down a game and make us a tie with Carolina for the division. They wanna screw our season as much as possible. If you do not think these players will be bringing all they got you are crazy. This will not be an easy win.
Kick some Falcon ass Brees

I'm thinking the same thing. this is one of those games where you're not sure what is going to happen, it could be a blowout win, or come down to the final seconds. The Falcons will be aggressive but I just don't see us loosing even if the saints overlook them.

why would they treat it like a playoff game when its clear they can't win one smh. they need all the motivation they can get I guess.

It's more about Smith. The tea leaves say He has to show that despite everything he still has a handle on the players. A lot is riding on this game for them. The staff, the players as far as value for next season. Whatever they have in the bag they will cash it in. I just hope we are prepared for unconventional crap.

Yep. They should just go ahead and go for the first round pick.

This Falcon team does not have the players, this year, to pull off an upset on Thursday. The Saints organization from Payton to the water boy know they need to stay ahead of the Panthers. It is time to put the peddle to the metal for the remainder of the season.

Re: This will be Atlantas Super Bowl

I agree with the OP...this is the last game on their schedule they give a sh!t about. They'd love nothing better than to knock us down to tie with CAR just to stir the pot.

We played like sh!t last year, but all we wanted was to beat ATL no matter what. If you don't think they are thinking the same thing, you are sorely mistaken.

This game will not come easy.

If the situation was reversed, and we were 2-8, we would do everything possible to ruin their night and any possible playoff hopes. Don't sleep on these guys or they will bite us on the butt.

After watching what Jacksonville did to Tennessee I will not overlook any opponent.

Saints on a short week, on the road, following an emotional win.

Falcons in a tail spin, season lost, jobs on the line, looking for anything to give them a reason to fight.

Do your job.

They want... They want... They want...

People in hell want ice water...

Despite the ever so popular notion that if you want something bad enough, you can just go out and get it, the Falcons do not have what it takes to get what they want. Atlanta is a soup sandwich, all the ingredients are pretty good standing alone but when you put it together they are just a hot sloppy mess, and Mike Smith's Foreman grill isn't going to put out Ruth's Chris steaks.

In the last 4 weeks their offense is averaging 15.25 points per game, and their defense is allowing 33.75 points per game.

In the last 4 weeks they have allowed an AVERAGE of 182 yards rushing, and 223 yards passing (Glennon, Wilson, Newton, Palmer are NOT high yardage passers)

In the last 4 weeks they have averaged 3 turnovers a game.

You want to talk about attitude? They brought in and tried out 2 QBs this week, that is going to kick sh1tbritches confidence into a downward spiral.

I revise my previous prediction, we put up 160+ yards rushing.

Hahaha! Really! They're gonna treat this like one of last year's regular season games! We'd better bring the wood.

Very true.
They could not fire him after the Bucs loss bc of the short week, but could easily can him tomorrow morning and have the new coach in place for the 10 day break

This game scares me. Short week, we have 12 dinged up players and against our biggest rival. If it was on Sunday I would feel better but just don't like it on a Thursday. Wish the NFL would get rid of all Thursday games except Thanksgiving and opening night. Player safety my AZZ!

The Jets.
The Jets who?
How soon we forget.

Im not picking on you, Schmoes, and welcome to the board, btw. I am disagreeing.

Anyone over 20 (and I dont know your age) should know that records mean nothing when Saints/Falcons play. In fact the team having the bad year usually plays its best game of the year against the team having the good year.

This is an old, nasty rivalry, and nothing would make them happier than to knock us down.
Not to mention, this is the NFL.

Did you just start watching the NFL?
Do you remember who the '91 Cowboys one single win was? The Redskins.
Do you remember the '71 Cowboys big loss? The sad sack '71 Saints.
Did you watch the Jets game 3 weeks ago?
I could go on.

There are no real underdogs in the NFL.
Bring your best game to this game, or get clobbered.

The ONLY way we lose this game is if we flat out give it to them with boneheaded mistakes, multiple turnovers, a few bad bounces and perhaps a few bad calls sprinkled in.

If we bring our A game, or even our B-plus game, we win.

Bingo! The Jets didn't beat the same team that played Dallas or the 49ers... We beat our selves...

Everyone is ignoring that the Saints will be Up for this game too.

It will, but they're missing so many pieces, and their D is bad. If we don't win this it is our fault, plain and simple. We have 0 business losing this game

Re: This will be Atlantas Super Bowl

I am a Falcons fan and while I dont think Smitty is coaching for his job (he has earned this year as a pass by making the franchise more relevant than it has been in its history) I do think many of our players are going to be playing for their roster spot. We have a ton of guys on the field that we were hoping would only be playing in garbage time so those guys have a lot to prove or they are likely to be let go in the off season. Some of the higher priced guys have to see the writing on the wall too, time to perform or they might be cut to free up money for free agents. All of that being said we can't block, can't run, can't get any pressure on the QB, can't tackle and can't cover...you guys are going to run away with the game even though it is a divisional game which can always go either way. As a Falcons fan I'm just hoping Ryan doesn't suffer some sort of injury that affects next season while he runs for his life.

Unfortunately we seem to do that once or twice a season.

The Falcons don't worry me. The Saints worry me, and not really a whole lot tonight.

Saints 31
Falcons 17

If the roles were reversed, I would take great joy in knocking the Falcons out of a neck and neck running for the #1 seed.
I can see them being motivated for this game without difficulty.

Saints on their game, however, should still win.

Sean Payton has lost to Atlanta twice since 2006. Hell.. The worst defense in History beat them to end their undefeated season in 2012 with out Sean Payton.

We will definitely get Atlanta's A game tonight.

The only question will be what an "A game" is for this year's Falcons.

All that being said - Saints 27 Falcons 13

And they were at full strength, minus a slightly hobbled Roddy White. We had numerous injuries on defense we were dealing with at the time.

Now they're decimated with injuries, combined with a really weak O-line to start with.

Their defense isn't very good against the run or pass.

Their offense is really weak running the ball, and their passing game is OK.

We're really good against the pass.

Week 1 and week 12 are apples and oranges.

I totally agree with that. Everyone knows NFL teams evolve over a season. Where you killed a team or beat them at the beginning of the season, that same opponent can be just the opposite by the end.

For example, we really didn't know much about this defense for the first game. After the win, at best, I was "optimistic" we wouldn't tank on defense.

Fast forward to now and I feel our defense has been more effective than our offense at times this season. It's truly our "secret weapon" that many just can't grasp until the day after they play us and they're pretty banged up.

Falcon's aren't going to be the same team we played week one.... then again, let's hope the Saints aren't sitting on their hands. Every once in a while we tank (like the Jets game), but usually not on the home stretch.

Another reason for optimism... the last time Drew played in Atlanta he threw 5 picks.

THAT ain't happening tonight. I have a feeling Drew remembers that night. I think he plays with lazer beam focus and is absolutely 100% committed to ripping their damn hearts out tonight.

Re: This will be Atlantas Super Bowl

ATL sports radio is pretty bad, but one guy who does an am show with Randy Cross made a good point today: Atlanta hasn't changed anything as they go through this slump
Th Giants started horribly, adjusted, turned it around. Same could be said for Philly & Carolina, and to lesser degrees Pittsburgh and even Tampa.
ATL has gone from losing to good teams to losing to crappy ones, without changing their philosophy. Instead they are playing backups (who are really 3rd stringers)
When we lose a weapon offensively, we just plug in a new one and change our play-call. But, Smith is not Payton
