“The thing that I hated about the play, the whole thing, and this is what these offensive guys are doing, they’re kind of running with it,” Mitchell said. “Drew Brees is throwing a fit in the post-game interview saying how he got hit in the chin and he was dazed, and all this other stuff. And it’s like, dude, the replay clearly shows he did not even touch you in the chin.

“Stop being soft, get up off the ground,” Mitchell said. “You fumbled the football, that’s why the only reason you were acting like you were hurt, is so you could draw a flag.”

I love reading the comments section on PFT. "Cheap shots on qbs are the only reason Brees has a ring"...pretty sure Brett Favre and Peyton Manning throwing dumb ass pick sixes at crucial moments had something to do with it.

OK, I'm calling BS. Unless I missed it, I have yet to see where Brees is whining.


1) He DID NOT jump up and start yelling at a ref or cursing him or make any gesture (like Farve and Brady always did/do) to indicate a flag should be thrown.

2) He RESPONDED to questions in the news conference. He did not go in there with an axe to grind, he did not bring the hit up, and he did not try to trash Brooks' reputation by saying he was a dirty rotten *******. Quite the opposite...

3) When attacked by Ray Ray and Teddy Bruschi (who cares how it's spelled if thats wrong) about being the benefactor of a "horrible call", he did not take it personal and attack back. All he did was say that based on the current rules he thought that was a penalty. True, if that happens in 1979 that's a sack fumble, but we aren't in the 1979 NFL any more, Toto...



I have a sneaking suspicion that this no-name Panthers player just stepped in it. I hope Drew torches him, and at some point Jimmy G steps on his jock on the way to one of several TDs.

I have never heard of this guy. I guess he got his wish to get some media attention. I'm sure he'll regret it when Brees makes it a point to throw in his area throughout the game.

It's like nobody even saw the play. Brees didn't flop, he got smoked. and he didn't get up crying for a flag, in fact he was on the ground getting helped up by a lineman when the flag was thrown.

It blows my mind that anybody would climb up Drew Brees' shorts for this, if they don't like the call I get that but save your *****ing for the officials and the commissioner.

Mike Mitchell is a punk and will soon learn some respect.

^ This. I hope the Seahawks and Russell Wilson watch that tape too. Matt Ryan wanted no part of Hawthorne and Carr. My advice to Russell Wilson would be, take the field goal, son, just get down, it's not worth ending your team's season. Wilson is going to need to play smart and not try and be a hero, if he wants to finish the game.

I think the obvious headhunting of Brees in the 49er game, has actually made our defense rally and become even meaner.

I personally am glad he said it. I hope the whole team hears what he said and it pisses them all off...including Sean and Rob. Theres nothing wrong with feeding the monster. I would actually love it if this causes a major turning point in our offense and we start dropping 40 burgers on average.

What's most pathetic was Brees NEVER mouthed off about the sack. He only answered a media question that when he was on the ground the knew it would be a penalty. Why?

Because when I watch the NFL, anytime the QB gets touched I think "oh that's gonna be a penalty" and usually, 90% of the time whether it's a penalty or not, it ends up a penalty.

I can read the headlines now "BREES TARGETS MITCHELL ALL DAY LONG, THROWS FOR 200 YARDS AGAINST HIS COVERAGE"
