Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?

he is the best serviceable OC in the NFL IMO but teams have him scouted and he has yet to improve those area of his game they are attacking. at this point i have to start saying he can not handle the adjustment. he is not the quickest adjusting cat in the phone booth. the kid has talent but does he have enough? This is the question i have to ask at this point. Drew need a deep pocket to step up into. |

I'm reading and agreeing with most, but at what point do we start talking qb. Brees good for maybe 3 more years. Or are we content with McCown

Drew easily has 5 years left, if not more. I've never seen a QB take more than 3 years to develop. Most develop in one or two. It becomes an issue in 2017, not 2014. |

Early picks at the corner position have not been kind to the saints. OT in first round and find a corner in free agency

I've not liked his inability to connect with receivers in stride on the long passes the past two-three years; he does have a reconstructed shoulder... And while the pass protection is shared between Drew AND the Offensive Line, he's had that scared deer-in-the-headlights looks lately (Think Rocky III)... Also, his reluctance to pull the ball down and run for ~8 yd slides, instead forcing attempts/interceptions is becoming a bad habit to his game and probably another indicator of guy thinking about how much he has to lose... I'd like to see how Griffin progresses through training camp next season; but after watching him at the Texas vs The World College Senior Bowl - there's definitely something there, but is is enough?!? The Bill Walsh 49ers showed you don't wait till the quarterback falters, it throws the entire offense's timing out - and timing is everything as we've witnessed these past few years since Coach Payton arrived... If there's a guy, whether FA, Rookie FA, or draft pick there, you always acquire the talent and deal with those problems rather than the problem of not having the talent... |
