What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Never too early to start talking about the draft, imo.
I'd like to see us pick up a cornerback in the first round. Jabari Greer's injury really made me realize how poor the depth is at CB. And who knows how Greer will come back from his ACL tear. I think we should assume for the worst and take a CB, because as it stands now, we have nobody behind Keenan Lewis and Corey White. I guess Carr is decent, but he's certainly not ideal and could be upgraded. |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the first round of the draft?
CB for sure, as well as OC, OT, LB (2), WR
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the first round of the draft?
O-Line/OLB/CB BPA at one of those spots
I'm guessing that Rob Ryan will get another piece for his defense, like OLB in the first |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the first round of the draft?
The best player available with the 32nd pick! Who knows how free agency will play out leading up to the draft but I'm watching this Arkansas-Miss. State game right now and this center Travis Swanson for Arkansas is pretty intriguing. It's not a sexy pick but he's currently the #1 center in the upcoming draft and if we don't bring back DLP then he should be an option.

I'd like to see our picks turn out like this: 1 - CB 2 - OLB 3 - OG/OC 4 - OT 5 - OLB 6 - WR |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Every mock draft I read has us drafting an OLB in the first round and I don't get it. Victor Butler will be back next season and combined with Junior and Parys Haralson it just doesn't seem like a position that needs immediate upgrading.

I'd like to see us take Adrian Hubbard, OLB out of Alabama in the second round. The guy is a monster. 6'5, 252 and can run like a deer. He's not a liability in the pass or run game. Rob Ryan would work wonders with him. |

But I could see us taking an OLB. Butler is unproven as a starter and there's a bit of the unknown with his knee injury. Junior is above average but not what I'd call pro-bowl quality. Parys is a SLB and at this stage is more of a two-down OLB. We could use a young Jack LB for sure. I'd prefer that the BPA when we pick is an OT or CB, but I could live with any positions in the 1st other than QB, RB, FB, TE, K or P. |

They say the problem with Bama players is that Saban has already gotten the most out of them. There likely won't be a huge "development" jump for his players when they reach the next level. They're kinda like what you see is what you get. We've seen that with his DB's and LB's already. Obviously they won't suck, but they aren't going to improve dramatically at the next level. I tend to think Bama players are over-rated by about a half-round or more going into the draft. |

RD1. OL/CB
RD2. LB/WR |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
BPA except QB, RB,WR, FB, TE, K or P

And with Lofton not being an ideal SILB in a 3-4, you can add ILB to our list of needs. If the next Aldon Smith, Clay Matthews, Ahmad Brooks or DeMarcus Ware is sitting there, I'm pulling the trigger real quick. |

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I have a bias towards big uglies, large men that can run are rare,DT DE,OT. I think that we need a C,OG however the Saints seem to find gems in the later rds. Swanson is a player that I see going in 3-4 rds.I think that would be a good pick in the 3rd. After saying all this we will probably pick a OLB, DE.Pass rushers are at a premium. CB is another distinct possibility. FA always affects the draft. I don't see us being a big player. WR is another possibility. It is hard to predict where we will go. A late rd pick on QB is something I see as likely..

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
OL and WR are the only offensive spots I think need to be addressed. WR are getting older should be at least in the discussion. Other than those spots Think it should be another highly concentrated defensive draft whatever position but CB would be #1 on the list IMO

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Hoping we get a shot at Kyle van Noy.
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
If there's one worthy of a first round pick still available when the Saints draft, I'd like to see them pick up an offensive lineman, any position. I think the offensive line depth needs some serious attention.
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
O line, linebacker, corner, and QB
We will draft a QB in the first round either this year or next. My guess would be next. |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
O-line. Then o-line then o-line again.

I don't remember what game it was this year, but one of the commentators said he talked to Brees, and Brees said that he believes he still has 5 years left in him. If that really is the case, and we can have Brees for another 5, I don't see us drafting his successor this year or next unless we want a situation similar to Favre and ARod. |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I am looking at picking around 28 and expect most of the media darlings gone by the time we pick. listed loosely by round for each position.

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
1st round offensive line then BPA the rest of the draft
|

Corner and o line... for sure

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I don't think drafting a WR in the first round is a good idea, they are pretty much hit or miss, I don't know if you guys have forgotten but we get Joe Morgan back next year. He was looking to have a big year before he tore his ACL. It depends how far Terron Armsted has grown as an NFL OL, so either OT, OLB, or CB in the first round
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
There is only 5 Hall of Fame WR selected in the first round, there is 4 in the fourth round

A true ILB could go a long way, a safety and the rest for the O. Payton will shore up the O-line for Brees to do his thing in this draft, his turn.

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I think the real question is what position needs an upgrade the most and to me that's center. DLP can get dominated at times that can really hurt when we try to pound it inside.
CB is kind of thin too. We're going to take the best player we can get with the first pick and it isn't till later in the draft that they'll start trying to fill needs. We know that they're pretty good at finding hidden gems but you can't count on that. |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
(1) Outside Linebacker
(2) Offensive Tackle (3) Offensive Center (4) Wide Receiver (5) Offensive Guard (6) Kicker |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Id like to see OLB's Kyle Van Noy or Trent Murphy in the first. I would absolutely love to see CJ Mosely but he will be long gone by the time we pick.

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Best player available. I want the WR from Vandy too. Jerry Rice's cousin. But 1st round. BPA. I don't care what position besides K or P.

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I am surprised the Seahawks fans have not weighed in on this thread yet to tell us about their impressive draft picks and how great their team is. They are taking over every other thread it seems.

What I don't want to see is him go out on a steady decline not wanting to let go of the game. I want to see him go out on top. I also think that when Brees hangs them up so will Payton. |

....errrrr.... A kicker in the late rounds?

i am really starting to move Christian Jones, ILB/OLB/DE, Florida State up my board. He has more flexibility at the second leave than just about any other player but CJ. The only fear is he has bounced around so much it may take a bit longer for him to settle into a position in the nfl. if i draft on upside he is my pick Trent Murphy as a 34 DE he is the best run stuffer. as a pass rusher he is plays under control and stays in his lane better than anyone. he is a beast in my book. long gone before we pick i fear |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Obviously the Saints will probably keep working on the defense, but you know they may take a shot at an offense player early on. If available, watch out for Austin Seferian-Jenkins.
