"Saints can't win outdoors"

Listening to all the talking heads this AM.

Is it just me, or did our team not already win the biggest outdoor game and "road" game (away from the Dome crowd anyway) in its history - aka Superbowl XLIV???

Really tired of the template that the Saints can't win on the road or outdoors. Look at the numbers under SP and I think they show something different.

I guess those wins @ Tampa and @ Chicago didn't count? Good to know.

I kinda like being overlooked. Let the media and SeaHags count their chickens before they hatch. All the sweeter for later.

The 0-4 Saints went to the peehawks and got a win in 07. This isn't an impossible dream we're talking about.

We can't lose at home and can't win on the road. Both wrong. We won what, 8 or 9 games? They weren't all at home.

Superbowl XLIV wasn't outside.
It was IN Miami

True. And we will be playing INSIDE Seattle's stadium next Monday.

... been hearing that cliche' about dome teams since the NFL started playing in domes, ... 'warm-weather teams don't like playing in the cold' ... there's another one for ya', ;).

Exactly! With that analogy we should go 8-8 every year. They are just cliche's...nothing more, nothing less!

Re: "Saints can't win outdoors"

It's because the Saints don't put 40 on the board outside, especially in the cold. If either team starts fast this Monday, it's bad news for the other.

What's weird about this is that The Seahawks use to play in a dome (Kingdome) and now we play outside when in my opinion, The Saints should play outside. Why did they build a dome for your football team??

Is this a serious question? While you are freezing your knads off in your new sound direction stadium I'll be holding a cold beer in the Superdome wearing shorts and muscle shirt.

Come on guys. We have a hard time winnnig outside up north late in the season. I dont have to look up the stats. It is what it is.

I do think we rise to the occasion next monday though. We'll be rested and theres a lot at stake.

I imagine the Superdome is getting older and I will bet you at some point that they will replace the dome with an outdoor venue. Poor Saints fan having to brave that 50 degree element outdoors LOL

Won't happen anytime soon, they re-fitted the superdomes structure when it changed from louisiana superdome to Mercedes Benz

We have won more games than most people think especially since Payton has been coach. Playoffs on the road is our only losing streak. We have won games up north or stadiums where it is open and in the 30's every year except 2012.
We've won in NY,Carolina, KC, Was, Cin and Ten during late November and December and the games were near freezing temperatures.

Seriously though there was talk a few years back about building an outdoor stadium. I think a few reasons that they stuck with the Dome was: money, location in the city, and hosting of Superbowls. Everyone loves coming to the Dome for a Superbowl since it is always good weather inside and it is right smack dab in the middle of a great tourist city. Hotels, restaurants and parties all close by.

It would never happen but if it did, we would just schedule all the winter warriors in September and see how they handle 98* and 95% humidity.

Re: "Saints can't win outdoors"

Well my friends it is freezing up here with a chance of snow next week so your Saints are going to need their Long Johns. I am not going to say much about who will win because these teams haven't seen each other in a while and the rosters have had quite a bit of addition and subtraction.

Yeah that's a Seahawk recipe for a loss.

Re: "Saints can't win outdoors"

So given the difficulty of The Saints schedule, do you guys see this as a must win to get the 1 or 2 seed?

blackangold 11-25-2013 12:38 PM

Re: "Saints can't win outdoors"

You can't blame them, we do play differently on the road than we do at home. It's undeniable that we are better at home than we are playing away. Now they would have you believe that we cannot win on the road at all, which is false. There is no team that plays better on the road than they do at home, its called an advantage for a reason. They need something to talk about all day and they really need something bad to say about the Saints so there you have it.

I will answer and say no. I still think you guys will have a fight with SF, NYG and ARZ. I think the Seahawks drop 1 of those for sure, if not two.

Our game is for #1 seed.

Unless we were to get swept by Carolina (and we will not lose that prime time game next Sunday night), I think the #2 seed belongs to the loser of MNF next week.

I see both our teams finishing 13-3, with the Seahawks losing to us and 49ers and the Saints losing @ Carolina

It appears Allen nixed a roof in Seattle due to cost concerns ...cheapskate owner.

It appears that Arrowhead holds the World's Record for the loudest outdoor stadium.

Outside? Cold?
Sean, accept this invite to Wisconsin to adjust to the cold.

As a Packer stock holder, only because husband owns stock, I extend Lambeau as a place to practice. (Because the Packers aren't going anywhere.)

Wrong. The Superdome has been totally rebuilt since 2005 with only the framework remaining. Everything else is state of the art and they will be adding a large over-the-field video monitor ala "Jerry World" in the very near future. If you hadn't been there since 2005 you wouldn't recognize it at all.

Yup. They also reconfigured the seating adding around 9,000 seats since 2005 and have brought the fans much, much closer to the field of play. The field is now visible from all concessions as they removed the walls separating the seating from the concourses. They also rebuilt all the restroom facilities and by far increased the number for women (we all know why) and totally rewired the entire facilty.

Re: "Saints can't win outdoors"

The last time I checked the Saints owned the best road record in the NFL since the 2009 season. Besides that, my wife used to live in Seattle and she say's it's not actually that cold. Just real wet.
