this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; We talk about how they are thin at Cb but we are even thinner. We also lost 2 of our top 3 CB so they are probably talking about the same thing....

Our defense on the other hand is set up by the d-line so the secondary guys have a certain amount of slack. Also from the above article, the Saints have a schematic advantage on offense in that they run a lot of bunched sets and tight formations so they can hide some pre-snap reads from the defense and force them to play zone. I think we beat the Seahawks comfortably, maybe by 10 or 13. They haven't seen a team like the Saints yet. I mean, look at their schedule, talk about soft. If we had played that schedule we'd probably be undefeated right now. |

When you say we have lost 2 of our 3 CBs, do you mean Greer and Patrick Robinson? I agree on Greer, but Robinson is not one of our best CBs. Lewis, Greer, and White are all better than him if you ask me.

Re: Seattle CB Walter Thurmond Suspension
Easy to bash on Robinson but he didn't have a chance to prove himself in the new defense. He is a good man-to-man corner and proved it in 2011 in a non-Spagnuolo scheme and IMO was off to a great start this year before the injury. If all were healthy and playing right now IMO Robinson would be the outside corner in the nickel with Greer playing the slot guy and White would be riding pine.
The only difference between people's opinions of Robinson and somebody like Hawthorne/Lofton/Jenkins/Galette/etc is that those guys got to redeem themselves now after playing in Spag's crappy scheme and looking terrible. P-Rob never really got the chance. Personaly, I feel like everybody from that Spag defense should get a clean slate b/c now we see the problem clearly wasn't the players, it was the coaching. |
