Should we make a play for Michael Orr?

Im watching the late game and heard Orr is in a contract year and some speculate he will not be re-signed with the Ravens. As much as he has been hit and pressured this year I have a feeling he is going to restructure or take a pay cut to buy himself some protection. Orr is solid and servicable and can play both sides.
We need some immediete impact players on our Oline. Im all for drafting, but we need someone who can step right in.

Oher is a good RT, I wouldn't be against it. But if I could bring back anyone to help the O-Line it would be Kromer

Agreed, but not enough to justify signing Oher. I'd rather spend that kind of cash at LT or even OC.

Why are people in a rush to get rid of strief, he's the highest rated pass blocker in the NFL

i am not in a rush at all. all i can say is i wish he was 25 again. it is time to groom a replacement, a real replacement not some i woulda coulda UDFA.

if you get a player like Orr you have extended Striefs playing time by a few years. some where down the road he will go back to a back up. i would love to milk another say 5 years out him at this stage of his career than drive him into the dirt in 3

Strief was picked in the 7th round, practically an UDFA.

Strief just turned 30.
O-linemen can easily play into their late 30s.

I was thinking of getting him to replace brown. LT is the position he played most in college. He was moved to RT because the Ravens already had LT pretty solid and didn't want to go screwing with the line too much. He has played some at Lt for the Ravens and has done well. I do think he may be a little out of reach financially though. I think Drew knows that he is going to have to restructure enough to get some protection if he ever wants to see a majority of that contract. A little less in the long run is better than nothing in the short run
