The New Orleans Saints have a tall task in front of them on Monday Night Football as they must travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks.
The good news is this is not 2012. In other words, the Saints have a genius at defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who is more than capable of putting together new schemes to help his players find success in tough situations. ESPN’s Terry Blount and Mike Triplett bring up a great point as to how Ryan will play a major factor in the outcome of the game: I know this: Ryan will definitely have a plan. He is one of the league’s most innovative game-planners. Former player Scott Fujita described him as a “mad scientist.” We saw that quality more than ever two weeks ago when the Saints played the San Francisco 49ers. Ryan unveiled two new packages for that game, including a five-linebacker formation to corral the 49ers’ run game and the threat of the read-option. We may see the same thing this week, or maybe a new wrinkle since he likes to be unpredictable. I know the Saints’ defensive players will be amped to prove they’re just as good as the more-hyped Seahawks defense. Ends Cameron Jordan and Akiem Hicks, outside linebacker Junior Galette and cornerback Keenan Lewis are having breakout years, in particular. It only makes sense that Ryan has something special up his sleeve. Ryan is known for his amoeba defense where all players come to the line standing up and can do multiple things once the ball is snapped. Against Russell Wilson and the Seahawks, New Orleans is sure to give some new looks to have a competitive edge in a hostile environment. We can’t wait to see what the “mad scientist” has up his sleeve come Monday. Whatever it is, Seattle is sure to be ill-prepared. Rob Ryan Set to Unleash New Saints Looks vs. Seahawks? |

Re: Rob Ryan Set to Unleash New Saints Looks vs. Seahawks?
Well, not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but, I wouldn't be crowning anyone just yet. Look at the two losses we've had this year. Both were Brain Farts in important games. Seems like we always come out with the jitters in games like this and if Ryan is so great, how come he's never beaten his brother Rex who has an inferior team to ours and yet they beat us in that game? I know, some of the blame goes to Payton too but you get my point.
I expect us to win this game, but I don't think we're going to see what we'd all like to see and that is a dominant performance by all phases of the team, Offense, Defense and especially Special Teams. I don't know about anyone else but I'm still not sold on Ingram and I'd love to see us bring 4 RB's to this game, seeing how they're all somewhat nicked up and how we lost every RB we had in that playoff game and we didn't even have JG in that game as well. What I'd like to see is some determination from our entire team. Like I said, that's what I'd like to see, but more than likely, we'll see a timid team with the jitters that won't settle down until the 3rd qtr. if at all, and wind up getting a lucky FG at the end to win it. Not a confidence inspiring win, just a win. |

I hope the Saints have PT, Sproles, Ingram & Robinson activated for the game; probably could get by without as many WRs because of the weather.

Re: Rob Ryan Set to Unleash New Saints Looks vs. Seahawks?
my concern is Seattle flipping the script on Ryan and going hurry-up
our defense looked beyond confused for half the game against New England Ryan best plan won't mean anything if we can't get the right personnel out there |

Wilson is going to be very confused for much of the game.

Per the weather channel, the rain will stop around 5pm (pst) and it will be mostly clear for the remainder of the evening. I didn't see anything about snow. Besides the weather will affect both teams with a wet field.
