Re: Saints vs Seahawks Gameday Thread and Chat

I will add. Beyond the stats and match ups.... No team has beat us this season, we have beaten our selves. When I say "beat us" I mean we came out and played like we did against Dallas and didn't come away with a win. We are unstopable when we are playing up.

Saints play up for good teams.

Saints play up for MNF.

Saints haven't lost a game after a BYE since 2008, and this being a short BYE 11 days, have not lost a game after a short BYE with Sean payton as a head coach.

Re: Saints vs Seahawks Gameday Thread and Chat

The way I look at it is, the only one thing missing from the Payton trophy case is exactly THIS...the tough road win, out of doors, under adversity, against a quality team, in deep winter....how many times has Payton come so close and not been able to pull it off?

Bears 2007 NFC Championship game, 39-14
2008 — Bears 27, Saints 24, OT
2010 – Ravens 30, Saints 24
2010 – Seahawks 41, Saints 36
2011 – Packers 42, Saints 34
2011 – 49ers 36, Saints 32
2013 – Patriots 30, Saints 27

Again and again, this happens, in spite of the really awesome track record the team generally has, on the road.

So that is a heck of a ridiculous monkey to have on Payton's back, and us Saints fans kinda don't even like to talk about it. But this is BIG. You KNOW Sean Payton thought about it during that year off. Sean Payton, Drew Brees and the Saints, have yet to prove they can win one out of doors on the road in winter, period. And we already beat the 49ers this year, finally got that monkey off our backs...romped all over the coach's former team, and our twice annual beatdown of the Falcons....

That's why I think this could be the one, where everything clicks and finally comes together. If not here, then DEFINITELY at Carolina in a couple of weeks.

Time and again, this team plays it's best when it's settling scores, exacting revenge, breaking records, or doing things that someone else said they couldn't do...that plays exactly into this type of game. It's nice that the Seahawks have this big long impressive ridiculous winning streak at the C Link and all, but that streak could end tomorrow and no one would really care...so what....but if the Saints finally WIN that big one on the road, that is BIG NEWS for everybody in the league. The Saints have a lot more riding on the line, a lot more to prove in this game.

And it has that "playing with house money" feel to it, because if the Saints lose at Seattle, it's NOT the end of the world -- they still get Carolina twice and can still control most of their own destiny with the division and a #2 seed, or possibly even still grab the #1 if Seattle falters somewhere else.

That's been their hope and prayer for this past week, especially with their secondary woes... That damn weather just won't cooperate though

I just hope all of you are right about us winning this game. I'm not as confident. I am still pissed about that bone headed loss against the Jets. It just may change the out come of the season for us.
