I'm not sure how this is going to go over with some of you, but I'm just going to say it. I'm pretty objective and tend to be able to see the bigger picture without letting bias get in the way. I thought Seattle held a slight edge tonight because we were going to their house, but I thought we at least had a chance.
It would have been a different story if this game would've been in the Superdome. Its not far-fetched to say that the location of the game tonight ended up paving the way for who is going to win the NFC. If it would've been in NO, there's no way we're not competing for the win with a good chance to win and snatch up the #1 seed. Seattle and New Orleans are the top two places in the NFC where NO ONE wants to come. Unfortunately, now we can't make it to the Super Bowl without going back to Seattle and winning a playoff game (assuming they don't shat the bed over the next few weeks. I don't see SF giving them any trouble). Does anyone honestly think we can go back there and win a playoff game? I think it's POSSIBLE but not likely, because Seattle is probably slightly better overall as a team and the home field advantage just puts them over the edge. Seattle's defense is filthy good, and they were even down two of their best secondary players tonight. Russell Wilson makes all the right plays when they matter. Marshawn Lynch is a monster. We were able to contain him tonight, but that allowed Wilson to throw it downfield...pick your poison. They are healthy and solid on the offensive and defensive lines. I do a NFL playoff bracket every year with some friends, and I had Seattle winning it all last year. They probably could have too if not for Shatlanta getting the lucky FG against them (we all know they would've beat SF in the NFC championship because they own SF). And this year they probably will have home field advantage throughout. I still think the Saints are a great team and will be rooting my hardest for them, but I honestly don't see ANY team going to Seattle and winning a playoff game. |

The Seahawks coaches called a great game and the players played out of their minds. A lot of the bounces and calls went their way too. You have to give them credit because they played lights out and I doubt any of the other 30 teams in the NFL would have been able to hang with them either tonight.
As for the Saints, we need to dig deeper and find what it takes to win a game in an environment and situation like that. Obviously we may need to in the playoffs. The one bright side is that if we have to return to Seattle in the playoffs, no one outside our fan base will give us a chance and everyone will presume they will dominate us again. We will have the element of shock and surprise then I hope. |

I do think we are going to have a hard time with a mobile QB like Cam. That was obvious with Wilson, and Cam is way harder to bring down. Hope the D learned a containment lesson last night. Carolina should only lose to us on their remaining schedule and we have to play the Rams (never know what Rams team will show that day at their house). We have to earn the #2 seed, no doubt. |

The worst (or maybe best? I'm so confused) part of it is that Sean and Drew both said neither the noise nor the weather affected the game much. The team was ready for all of that and did a great job communicating. I know the defense doesn't have to deal with the noise, but it sure seemed like the Saints D were the one having trouble communicating. They often looked like they weren't ready right before the snap. I noticed several times some of the DBs would make a signal that looked like "switch me", and a few times the guy they were signaling never saw it. I'm not sure what that was all about but the play usually ended poorly when I saw that happening.
Good news is that we can supposedly play there without the noise affecting us. Bad news is that we got dominated anyway. I don't have many answers or suggestions but here's a few: 1. Commit to the run...even when you are down because you can't pass it on that secondary. 2. While it is important to stop Lynch, you still can't give up big passes 3. Win the turnover ratio 4. Don't bite on the RB on the read option 5. Protect on the o-line Obviously this is easier said than done... |

Lets just call it what it was.
Seattle played against us like we played against Dallas.... and that doesn't happen very often. If we see them in Clink it will be a different game. |

Our guys were so confused and their recievers were wide open. Something has to be done to straighten that out. Payton failed miserably and didn't dtick to what worked trying to push the ball downfield too early, trying to run with Ingram when it wasn't working and our recievers dropping balls didn't seem they were even trying to run their routes with any vigor. If they would have followed the pattern of dinking and dunking down the field until something began to open up we may have had a chance. What that one drive almost 9 minutes that is how you beat those guys. Sad thing is how far away we were from being competitive. Hope I never see a performance like this one for a long time. Have to give cudos to Seattle. Our team folded and showed no resilance.
