Re: This One Is On Sean
I don't think we can blame the defense nearly as much as the offense. Seattle averages high 20's in scoring and our defense held them to their average.
But look at these offensive drives. Six 3 and outs (one resulting in a Seattle TD), and one 5 and out, and two decent drives that ended on failed 4th and shorts. Going into the 4th quarter we had 104 total yards. No defense can play with an offense that futile. 15:00 1 01:29 NO 20 3 3 Punt 07:47 1 01:20 NO 20 3 2 Fumble 06:27 1 01:22 NO 20 3 4 Punt 01:55 1 08:10 NO 20 13 80 Touchdown 03:41 2 01:36 NO 22 3 8 Punt 00:13 2 00:13 NO 17 1 -1 End of Half 12:54 3 02:00 NO 17 3 -3 Punt 07:07 3 02:36 NO 22 5 19 Punt 02:32 3 03:45 NO 25 11 43 Downs 11:45 4 02:08 NO 43 8 35 Downs 01:49 4 01:31 NO 37 3 6 Punt |
Re: This One Is On Sean
I love Payton and Brees to death but how many times are we going to throw 20 yards on a 3rd and 1? Pick up the damn first down with a quick slant if you can't run it and continue the possession. Why must we always go for the kill shot instead of just picking up the first down! Last night's game was a total lack of discipline.

I'm kinda excited to see how he develops for 2014. Coach obviously believe in him. |

I just don't see how/why you don't go to your "playmakers" on that play. I'm also confused why Graham and Sproles were used earlier in the season, at times, totally ad nausium, but suddenly they are simply NOT part of the playbook or very limited. |
Re: This One Is On Sean
Definitely more than just coaching. They smothered us in every aspect possible.
Plus when you have a tipped ball fall into a D-linemans hands for a pick six in the first half, and then a deflection off a recievers helmet straight into another recievers hands for a TD, I think it is safe to say we were never going to be in that game. |

Re: This One Is On Sean
Agree players especially on offense stunk. Payton and OC called the worst game since payton has been here. No team as Dano pointed out could keep up when your offense is doing that to you. Payton stuck with what wasn't working almost like someone who put a lot of money on the game to lose. Time to move on it truly showed how bad this team can be. I can only hope this was a fluke and a horrible day at the office and see what happens next.

We don't have a nasty attitude.........last night we tried to kill 'em with kindness.

Re: This One Is On Sean
Watching the post-game interviews, Drew said he did not feel that the noise was a problem -- that they were communicating. He says they were prepared for the noise. That is interesting.

Re: This One Is On Sean
Some things stood out to me
Josh Hill- Sean is trying to develop him, Brees isn't going to stay legendary forever, don't throw it to him on 3rd down. We need to win now. Meachem- He isn't being aggressive and going up for the ball, rather letting it float and come to him. Short Pass- totally annihilated, couldn't do what we do best Ingram- Sucks Malcom Jenkins- I don't even know what to say CB Position- God help us, We need to hit a CB future Hall of Famer in the 2014 draft to be a "good team" next year |

All in all we came out and got smacked in the mouth in a tough Seattle stadium and never bounced back. That definately reflects on Coach, Drew only passed for 9 yards in the first 3 possesions and we only accounted for 12 first downs (mind boggling) but us seeing THAT D, before going into these 2 with Carolina will only help us, and KNOWING that we will be back in Seattle for the NFC Championship; I'm fully confident that Coach will have us ready and Drew will get it done.
