I said 11-5 in the preseason. We split the next 4, I'm on target. 11-5 and we're a 1st round bye. Weird thing here, though, is we could also be the 5th or 6th seed at 11-5 if we don't take care of business with Carolina.

Split CAR, eek it out against STL, and win over TB. 12-4. Gives us the NFC edge over CAR if they end at 12-4. 1st round bye is up to the Boys in Black & Gold.

I think it's important to remember that during our SB run we went into our home game versus Dallas and got manhandled pretty bad late in the season.

Yep, they were kicking our arse, up 24-3 going into the 4th quarter.

I don't remember if our playoff seeding was already locked in though.

Yea but Cam Newton has a passer rating of 88.1, and has thrown the same number of TDs as INTs in his last two games !

That is so awesome I don't need to mention his 61.7 % completion rate. :bng:

I didn't mean Carolina although I see how that could come across that way. Seattle beat up on us about the same time in the season that Dallas did and the sky did not fall. If memeory serves me, we did not clinch HFA that game and it was a huge loss. We will come out strong vs Carolina, I have no doubt. I think we'll split with them and get the 2 seed. STL and TB don't have a whole lot to play for at this point.

Since drafting Cam Newton the Panthers have always been hot and cold, remember when they won 5 of their last 6 last season. Now they've won their last 8. A blowout in the Dome is exactly what they need to cool down the pot.

That's always a possibility with Cam. He seems to have his emotions under check for the time being, but he hasn't experienced any real adversity as of late.

Heard an interesting perspective on Saints/Panthers by a local sportstalk yesterday ... they were talking about how the Saints were more a finesse team, how the Panthers were basically a smash mouth team designed for a certain amount of success that typically crashes hard ... they're 'hard crash' being this weekend in the Mercedes Benz Dome, :mrgreen:.
