Re: Saints bucket list
All teams struggle with goad games that's why the bookies give home teams 3 points just for being at home. We got beat by a team that out played us. All the crapabout the weather, crowd noise,etc...is just that excuses losers make excuses. We got out played .Will we be able to recover and win on a short week against a very good defense. We'll find out Sunday night

In 2011, on 12-11 the Saints beat the Titans on the road 22-17. The Titans finished the season 9-7. |
Re: Saints bucket list
I don't mean to burst your bubble but since when was 8-8 and 9-7 a quality team?

The Giants were a play-off team. The Titans had a winning record; don't forget the Saints LOST to a playoff team with a LOSING record! |
Re: Saints bucket list
I can't believe I'm about to put this in print. (So be prepared to smile Danno)
Home field advantage... Does Auburn, by beating Bama in Auburn mean that Auburn is better than Bama? IMO, no. Bama left 9 points on the field. If, (and I don't like the "If" game) they make those 3 kicks, Bama wins. Now, I fully understand that if "Frogs had wings" debate. So don't give me any of that, ok. While listening to Mike and Mike yesterday morning, they made the statement that the Saint have the most road victories, in the NFL since the SP & DB came to NOLA. They made a point to say this after all the other sportcasters said that N.O. wasn't a good traveling team. I think we put too much stock into what we hear others say. Remember that the other 31 teams in the NFL have the best of the best players also. If we have to go on the road in the playoffs (If, we make it)[I say that, because I don't want to put the cart before the horse]; I think we will do fine. Lets just say we do have a rematch in Seattle. What are the chances of another blow out? IMPO, slim to none; for either team. I would give the same odds of Auburn beating Bama twice in a year. Saban and Payton are hard to sweep. With that said; lets just say that the Seahawks do beat us at the NFCCG. They are a good team people and I don't hang my head in shame after the loss. Cold has an effect on everyone, depending on where you are from. 21 degrees in Mississippi is freaking COLD to me. 21 degrees in MS to someone who lives in Maine is fine. Just like a low altitude team, has problems going to Denver. Teams still manage to win in Denver. These guys are professional's. I'm don't worry myself with road/home odds. LSU lost at Ole Miss this year. Would I make a bet that LSU beats them 9 times out of 10 in Oxford? Your darn right I would. |
Re: Saints bucket list
The Giants in 2006 were a "playoff team" that was .500 when we played them; they got demolished in the first Wild Card round. The temp that day in December was around 50 degrees.
The Titans were 7-6 at the time, the Saints barely won, it was on grass and 41 degrees, "perfect football weather" as they say. So....You really want to hang your hat on that, as two examples, that prove we can somehow beat an elite team like the Seahawks or 49ers or Panthers on the road, in their house, in an NFC Championship Game? Now that they are the #2 seed, the Saints are most likely going to have to go on the road at some point, to beat a quality team in December or January -- including Carolina in Carolina later this year. Are people here really that confident they can do it? Until they prove it wrong, and win a really important one, outdoors in the mud or wind or snow or whatever, on the road, this is the monkey that's on their back. |

I see your point however. The Saints have not put the team we had seen all year on the field with most of the losses. In the others, there were some key injuries in the games and definite bad breaks. |
Re: Saints bucket list
Bottom line this year is our o-line is suspect. That, to me, is the A # 1 Problem. Not home vs road, cold vs hot, etc., etc. It's our O-line, and without major league improvement over these next 5 weeks or so, it's going to be a Major up hill climb...
