this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Does anybody know why we're benching Courtney Watson? Is it because he plays too hard? Is it because he's too smart? Maybe Haslett doesn't like his attitude. I'm surprised we didn't trade him....

Watson Benched!
I heard it\'s because he\'s been showing up the older guys. He\'s now officially a \"locker room cancer\" and will be cut after this season.

WARNING: CONSPIRACY THEORY BELOW
I bet its because he wears Haslett\'s old number and Jim was defensive rookie of the year. Haz wants to make sure that Watson can\'t do anything spectacular this season to warrent any votes in that category. That is also the reason tha Haslett refuses to admit that our LB corps stinks. |

All I can ask in response to this is, does Jim Haslett watch the same games we do? If he starts Ruff I will lose it. In the Tampa game Ruff thought it was better to try and triple cover rookie Michael Clayton and leave his man Ken Dilger wide open in the middle of the field for a 45 yard td. I am officially bummed out.

Haslett also changed four defensive starters, some because of injury, others because of lack of production. Sedrick Hodge will start at strong-side linebacker in place of James Allen. Orlando Ruff will get the nod at middle linebacker ahead of rookie Courtney Watson, who has struggled in recent weeks.
