First off, love the avatar, lol.

I don't think his fine, if any, will be higher than 15. He's a kicker (therefore not a skilled tackler) and it wasn't malicious, he just reached and grabbed whatever he touched..

According to the official 2013 NFL Fine Schedule the fine for a first offense facemask is $7,875 and it is against league rules for anyone other than the offender to pay the fine.

back in the 70s kickers were expected to hit - and most came through college playing other positions.

I dont think it was intended, to me it looks Morstead just grabbed what ever fell under his hand... Unless someone thinks that he is fast enough and accurate enough to grab Ted Ginn's facemask at a full sprint?

Facemasking penalties happen every week in the NFL, some intentional some not.. No one get ejected for them.

I am not saying he intended it, but he definitely should have let go

in a league hot and bothered by head and neck injuries, this will definitely be addressed

Dude.. In full speed he held his facemask for no more than 2 seconds if it was 2 seconds. In slow motion you just get a 3 second count.

NFL play is fast... very fast. In 2 seconds you just have time to realize what you are holding onto then let it go..

He was 360'd because of the angle Morestead had.

I'm starting to Think that kickers and punters should do some tackling drills too. For two reasons, one so they actually can make a tackle if they have to, it happens every now and then and two for their own safety. Its much easier to hurt yourself trying to make a tackle if you are not used to it. It makes it easy that you drop your head and lead with the crown etc.

Morstead is actually one of the better tacklers on the special teams. I can remember several times last year when he saved kickoff returns preventing touchdowns.

He'll get the first offense penalty of 7 grand and change. He almost got the daily double with a horse collar too. Just missed getting his hand inside the jersey and pads. The last time Morstead hit someone big on ST he hurt himself I guess that's why he reached out.
