You do realize that EVERYTHING we do on this forum is especially unimportant? You know, because none of us actually have the power (nor the knowledge or experience) to affect any aspect of the ability of the New Orleans Saints to win football games. However, we discuss things on this forum for entertainment purposes...not because anything we say actually matters.

Take it easy, BRO.

I'd rather have a 2nd and 3 than a 1st and 10.

2nd and 3 is still second down. If it were 2nd and 1 then you probably should take the play. But by taking the down we end up losing a yard on the next play and have 3rd and 4 instead of second 2nd and 11. the extra down is a much bigger deal than the yardage. Essentially he traded a down for two yards. That's a bad deal.

If you had a 1st and 10, and then got 7 yards on that first down play to make it 2nd down and 3, you would be pretty happy with that result, no?

The fact that we lost yardage on the 2nd down and 3 attempt doesn't make it the wrong decision.

(Don't get me wrong, I would've taken the penalty yardage too. In fact I was screaming at the TV. I'm just saying, once I settled down and thought about it, I can see why he made the choice he did).

If we get 7 yards i'm happy. If we have the option to get a first down for just two less yards, I'm taking that option without hesitation.

He had a Senior moment, everybody in the stadium was like... HUH!!!

We know he won't make a bone headed play like that in the clutch... He will see things that will get us over the hump... Like in the Championship Game vs Minnesota...

Why would it have been a 1st and 10? The penalty occurred on a 1st and 10, and it was a 5 yard penalty. I thought it would have been a 1st and 5.

O that decision, I made a comment in chat last night that I hoped we weren't talking about this penalty in the morning. Well, we're talking about it, but luckily, it's a non issue.

The fact that he actually stopped to think about it and STILL declined it just blew my mind. Also when we had first and goal at the 1 and passed twice, I thought was a greedy attempt to add to passing stats instead of just worrying about getting the score. It could have worked, but a quick handoff is much more high percentage and far less risky.

Nothing wrong with passing twice after being stuffed on the run play. You got a 6'5 wr and a 6'7 TE; tossing the ball on fade routes is a good call against the 1st ranked run D.

The penalty was a miscue... I would have not squibbed before the 1/2 regardless of who is taking the kickoff. Almost doesn't count but squibbing and giving them time to get into field goal range does. At that point in the game it was about not letting them gain any confidence since it was 21-6.

If football is a "game of inches", why would you give back 72?

Defensive holding is an automatic 1st and 10, not a 1st and 5. As a coach, you have to be confident you can get 3 yards in 2 tries to get a 1st down, which effectively gives you an extra play or 2, and consumes more time off the clock.

I don't see the issue here.

Yeah, that was kind of a wtf moment. Also, wasn't a fan of the calls when we were on the inch line. We do one fullback dive and then abandon the run.

In the grand scheme of things, none of these things are that worrisome. Overall, it was a very well coached game. Carolina had no answers on offense or defense for what we wanted to do to them.
