Won in the trenches...

After that debacle in Seattle, I was wondering how it would have affected the psyche of this team. Tonight, that question was answered. They are definitely resilient. After a slow start, they Saints finally stepped up and punched the bully in the mouth. The Panthers' offense wasn't what I was afraid of, but it was more their front seven. The offensive line played their best game of the season. It was even better than the Cowboys game, because the Panthers are much stouter across the board defensively than the Cowboys. They were held in check, which allowed Drew to dissect that string cheese secondary. The Saints defensive line was phenomenal against a pretty darn good offensive line, as well. The pressure they applied was about as intense as I've seen it all year. Now we are close to having two players in double-digit sacks for the first time since 2004 (Charles Grant, Darren Howard). Everyone played their parts to the letter. Drew, Marques, and Jimmy may get the spotlight, but they definitely will be spreading some of that light to both sides of the line. They deserve it, because in my mind, they were the MVP's tonight.

Cameron Jordan has 11.5 sacks and Galette is sitting pretty at 9; I think it's pretty safe to say Galette joins Cameron in double digits.

I know we're all excited by the win, but don't get TOO excited. The Saints got off to an extremely SLOW start, which in a road game would have pretty much buried them and spelled doom and gloom, the whole rest of the day. Play this game in January on the Panthers' field, or in a Dome half filled with Carolina fans buying tickets off the internet, and it might be a much different result.

Might. Coulda. Woulda. Shoulda. But didn't. We won. What's not to be excited over 10-3 and regaining sole possession of first place in the division with the inside track to a first round playoff bye?

Yeah but Saints fans, don't SULK with your head down and tail between your legs either. All week I saw Saints fans everywhere in various states of doom and gloom. NO, we didn't lay another egg this week. Genie out the bottle.

Personally, I felt we were itching to lose like we did at Seattle. Winning tonight after that loss makes more sense than ever. Too arrogant, too inconsistent, too many drops, o-line stunk and looked overrated at times all season. Best o-line game of the season tonight, very few drops etc.... all on a "short week" which means the Sean Payton/Saints misinformation propaganda thing was in full flight. I now doubt the entire airplane fiasco up there - makes me wonder if the organization forced them to stay and practice in the cold up there a few days to figure it out what's the problem.

If we EVER peak, now is the time. Great win!!!!

Give it a rest Bro. We won, authoritatively. We manhandled both their O and their D. They will be icing up for a week.

Enjoy.

And, BTW, the Seahawks LOST today to the Whiners. So, the hawks CAN BE BEAT. And, I think we can do too, at their house. We will have to have a different game plan though. But, we can do it, and I have a feelin' we will. Yay..uh.

Loved the game. We did good in most phases. Special teams is still my biggest worrie, teams gain to much yardage on their returns against us.
