Michaels & Collinsworth
Is it me or did either of them sound remotely enthused by how well we played last night?
|
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
Chris was drooling all over the Saints last night.
He sounded like a bigger Homer than Hokie. |
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
I thought more than once that Michaels was phoning it in and Worthless was spewing out wrong facts so par for the course to me

Michaels & Collinsworth
I'm tired of hearing CC talk about Drew's height. Every game he brings it up. We get it - Drew's not 6'5"
|
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
I think I have learned to tune out whatever announcers are doing the game.
|
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
Collingsworth goes from Drew's height and then he always has to throw a Katrina reference in there somewhere...
|
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
Collinsworth is one of the best there is.
Who do ya'll like better? Who's your top 5? |
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
Anybody but the Thursday crew....

Apparently all the analysts on TV rank last. So far, Gruden is the worst Billick is the worst Dierdorf is the worst Aikman is the worst Simms is the worst Lynch is the worst Collinsworth is the worst |

Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
Collinsworth on the first 3rd down of the game: "This is a BIG 3rd down."
Collinsworth on the second 3rd down of the game: "This is a BIG 3rd down." Wash. Rinse. Repeat. The guy is a robot. He sucks. He went to cliche' school and passed with flying colors. Nothing at all creative or insightful about what he does. He sucks pond water. |
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
Collingsworth gets his props from me, he irritates me to no end most of the game but he does give credit were credit is due and points out some really good things in a game. he knows football. but there is just something about him that drives me nuts.
example is pointing out the players that are not media darlings. Parys Haralson, play is a great example. no one really even mentions the guy but he has been a great addition for a seventh round pick |

I actually kinda like Billick, he's a little boring but actually brings up some fairly decent points at times. I also like Buck, he's not shabby. Although I do like Gruden, getting kinda tired of his schtick, not really interested a sluggo, drag, mike pop=trap zippo route or a banana slug red dog pow blitz. that stuffs getting a tad stale for me.

It all gets a little tiring. At least last night they talked about Keenan Lewis some. Vaccaro too. Even Lofton a little bit. |
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth

Someday perhaps the broadcast technology will allow for me to mute the color man and keep the play-by-play man ... or choose the radio commentators in place of the TV ones. Until then almost every game is gonna sound bad to me.

Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
As far as analysts and announcers geaux...
Collinsworth is a little too whiny for my taste... Simms can be wrong, but he's passionate, professional, and knowledgeable... Gruden's done a long enough tour and needs to coach the LSU Tigers; but he's funny and I've enjoyed his stints... Don't always agree, but Ron Jaworski knows his craft... Another one that alienated the big markets because he called it like he saw it was Joe Theisman, who I hated because of Notre Dame AND Washington, but I came to respect him as both a great gameday and studio analyst and don't think he got the love as he should have... A guy I liked to see get more of an opportunity is Solomon Wilcots, who's a national supporting character, but has done a nice job for regional games, both collegiate and pro... Another guy I'd like to see more of is Chris Myers (who old-time WWL listeners might remember); he does a great job, just needs a good analyst... I absolutely hated... Dierdorf - is he truly retired?!? He was in Beano Cook territory for me; so glad that Greg Gumbel will get a new partner; he must have slept with someone's daughter to be paired with Dan... Billick - never has one clown gotten more real estate as an "offensive 'genius" with a defensive juggernaut... Brian Baldinger is another Saints-hatin MFer; omg, couldn't stand the guy... Al Michaels - never has one clown gotten more real estate out of one "Miracle" - and yes, he's phoned it in since... Marv/Kenny "the biter" Albert and son - someone please give those men enemas, QAM/PRN, please...{sic} Chris Berman - San Franciso, Buffalo; Buffalo, San Francisco; San Francisco, Buffalo; Primme Timmmme; someone please, get me my Sig... Then there's Bob Costas, and his ego-centric belief that sports exists so that he can pass his grace upon us; he's on a list that an intimate cadre of my friends/specops have a standing order to punch in the face on site without approval from central command... Sideline Reporting Can't stand Siragusa and dislike Tafoya... Love Pam Oliver (she can take a hit too); and no better sideline entertainment than when old guys like Joe Namath were hitting on Suzy Kolber... Post Game Commentary Love Terry Bradshaw - the ultimate rebel and Howie Long; can't stand Michael Strahan - he's too politically correct... Other than Fox, which is okay; all studio shows suck balls! Humor LifeTime Achievement Award went to Buddy Diliberto; he thought he was funny because of his jokes - he was the joke with his suffering succotash drunken slurs.... And the Buddy D Annual PostGame Humor Award for the fourth straight goes to Bobby Hebert; though his shows are enlightening, I now know more reasons why Mora drank Pepto and didn't like throwing the ball... But on a more positive note, I like Tim Brando and would like to see him call Saints games... Sure do miss the Howard Cosell/Frank Gifford/Dandy Don Meredith MNF team; they were the best even if Cosell was aggravating at times... But there was nothing better than Jim Henderson and Archie Manning when the Saints were winning - it was a state of grace as far as Saints announcing went... AwfulAnnouncing.com does a funny job of pointing out gaffes... |

I think Aikman & Gruden are the two best color guy's today. No BS and know what they are talking about. As far as play by play, they all leave a lot to be desired.

Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
My intense hatred for Cris Collinsworthless dates back to his time in the studio on the FOX Network. You can tell things lightened up more after he left. He was a ***** towards Howie Long. It always seemed he played Devil's advocate against him and ridiculed everything Howie would say. You could almost see Howie grinding his teeth to keep from reaching over and snapping Cris' neck.

Back on topic, I actually like aikman and collinsworth. Gruden is slowly pushing me away with the whole "Gruden Grinder" and "split z y banana" catch phrases. |
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
I think the game should be called as it is played with out all the side bar commentation, graphics, and residual opinions.
Post game should be players talking (Full stop) They have all referenced bounty-gate and Katrina many years past their relevance. Costas can just go to hell.. i mean Atlanta. |
Michaels & Collinsworth
Speaking of analysts and talking heads..., who's the female at the counter to the left on MNF?
Who's bright idea was it to have females talk football anyway? I'll be frank, I am not a sexist and it has nothing to do with competence. It has everything to do with men have no place selling feminine hygiene products or designing bras. While I'd much rather listen to Pam Oilver than Bob Costa.... But Id prefer Tim Ryan or Pat Kerwin over both. |
Michaels & Collinsworth
Gruden is my favorite. I love his energy and when your team is winning he really gets enthusiastic like he is talking to us fans like he is a fan too :)
|
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
Oh for the record I too cannot stand Collinsworth. He comes off as being smug to me. Also, every penalty we got in our favor last night he challenged it. That got annoying to me.
|
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
Guess I'm the only one that likes Mike Mayock and Nessler. Wish we could have the old Sunday night crew from ESPN of Mike Patrick and Paul Maguire
|
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
It's hard for me to tell who Collinsworth roots for because, after awhile, it all becomes nails on a chalkboard to me. The fact that it goes on for hours and hours on end is torture. He has my vote for the worst, not even close. I prefer all other working NFL announcers. They only announcer I ever disliked more is Joe Theismann.
If they are serious about it like Pam Oliver, I don't see why there shouldn't be female announcers. There are plenty of female football fans. Men may play the sport, but everyone watches it. Besides, there are plenty of players out there who need feminine hygiene products. |

I would also take me some Rich Gannon with some Chuckie. Listening to Chuckie, right now, he is almost so pure in his love of the game that reminds me of innocence. Never a negative word. Always fair and balanced. (I make my self ill thinking this...) |
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
Gruden is tops to me.
What's his name from NFL network has the knowledge but hearing him is like drinking from a fire hose. Aikman dosen't provide much insight. Collinsworth knows football. Delivers his point well. Billick is a blowhard Falcon fan. Joe Buck has an enormous head for his body. Anyone else notice that? |
Re: Michaels & Collinsworth
I still hate that smarmy little pin head biatch. He can eat a turd for all I care.
