NFC Playoff worries

I know that if we play our A-game, there's not a team in the NFC that can beat us, but there are a few teams that match up well against us that I'd rather not face if possible.

Of all the playoff contenders, here's a list of teams I wouldn't mind get knocked out before we play them. Ain't skeered of any of them, just my personal preferences.

1. San Fran - Yeah, we beat them already but they're the kind of team that would give us fits even in the dome.

2. Carolina- Division foes with a good defense are always serious threats. Defenses travel well.

3. Arizona - Its one of those teams coming on strong, good defense with an improving offense. They are trending upward.

4. Philly - Coming on strong with an unconventional offense, which typically give us fits. The unknown factor bothers me about them.

Teams I'd rather play in the 2nd round
Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Green Bay

Re: NFC Playoff worries

I agree with that list.

1. 39ers- I believe they are dirty enough to try and intentionally injure Brees to win.
2. Carolina- It is hard to sweep a division team; beating them 3 times would be hard.
3. Cardinals- They seem to be peaking at right time.
4. Eagles- You are right about unconventional offense; see RGIII's rookie game against Saints.

Saints would destroy the other 4 teams in the play-offs

Re: NFC Playoff worries

I want Detroit. We already beat 3 teams on that list, and its hard to beat good teams twice in the NFL. In the case of the Panthers, 3 times perhaps? :) But I feel like Detroit could only threaten us with Megatron and Reggie.

Re: NFC Playoff worries

Its crazy, we've beaten most of the playoff contending teams, yet some say we haven't played anybody.

Reggie would most likely shred the Saints D like all ex-Saints seem to do

The Saints D has shut down Gore & Lynch; I'm not worried about Bush

Re: NFC Playoff worries

The D frees me up from a lot of worries @ home... I think you need SF to stay in the sixth seed and I would take my chances against the rest of the field@ the Benz!!!

You let SF@SEA slug
it out #handleyourbusiness @ home and await the winner of the slugfest... Eliminate your mistakes from the first game and you can beat SF @ home... Or pray that we play better and they are still hazy from playing SF and we can steal one!!!

I think either Carolina or San Fran would be a good game against the 'Hags... Both have physical run games...

Re: NFC Playoff worries

I am watching Seattle tackle and I don't want any part of them again -- two and three and four guys, flying to the ball on EVERY play. I do not understand why people think we would do so well against them if we faced them again, in Seattle. AND they are getting it done on the road today in cold weather.

Sorry for the buzzkill, but I think any team in the playoffs could beat us easily, if we're on the road. And I do mean any team. There's not a team in the NFC that can beat us in the Dome, we will blow them out, and I'll be there cheering. But outside the Dome? Color me skeptical. I just don't see us winning a game against a quality opponent in the cold weather on the road with this team. Including the Super Bowl outdoors in New York in February. Sorry, guys.

Seriously; against the Giants offense... The 23 interception throwing Eli Manning, worst O-Line in the league, absolutely no run game having offense?

The Giants defense on the other hand has held it's own against the 'Hags offense

SaintsBro 12-15-2013 02:22 PM

Re: NFC Playoff worries

Again, like I said...I am watching them tackle, and they are getting instantly deep in the backfield on running plays, and on passing plays they are contesting the ball both at the point of passing and at the receiver on EVERY play....same as they did with us. It looks very familiar. I don't know why you can't admit they are a very good team, no matter what team they are playing against.

I never did say anything about them not being a good team, so quit trying to force words in my mouth. I'm just saying that this could be a game if the Giants had any sort of O-Line...

SaintsBro 12-15-2013 02:24 PM

Re: NFC Playoff worries

I look at it like this: this game is Seattle's version of our Jets game...they are getting it done, outdoors, on the road, in a hostile environment, against a not very good team. Meanwhile against the Jets we floundered and flubbered and couldn't get anything going. If you don't want to see the parallel, you won't. Have we had a decisive win like this on the road, against ANY team, this year?

I'd say all three of our away wins were decisive wins, a win is a win right? Buccaneers, we came back and won with a field goal, Atlanta was a tough division game which we won. Oh and the Bears was a big defensive win

SaintsBro 12-15-2013 02:33 PM

Re: NFC Playoff worries

The Bears came back and very nearly stole it away at the end....of the three not one of them were decided by more than one score. That's not decisive. That's called just barely eking by.

Seattle is about to go up 23-0 or 19-0 in the 4th quarter. That's decisive.

Well go jump on their bandwagon then, sounds like you already have a seat reserved as it is...

Re: NFC Playoff worries

Ha ha. No thanks. I hate the Seahawks. I just don't eat the cheese is all. I'm sure we will suddenly flip a switch, and be able to magically score more than 34 points on the road in Seattle, when all year long we are averaging 18 points a game against only average teams. And then do it again in the wind and snow, against somebody else in the Super Bowl.

I guess we should forfeit our seed and pack in the rest of the season then?

I mostly worry about Det and 49ers.. Carolina has been exposed the same should happen home or away and the eagles aren't a threat on d. I'm just taking it a game at a time.

We ain't sca'd of no one. Saints are better than the pack.

I think we should have realistic expectations. Not every game is going to be played inside the Superdome.

That is not fair at all. SaintsBro is making sense. Saying that SEA is a good team and it will be very difficult for our team this year to beat them is -- wait for it ------- THE TRUTH.

At home, we always play exceptional.

On the road, we play up/down to our competition.
Winning @Chi and @NE (where we should've won) prove we can play well on the road.
We dropped an egg vs Seattle, not even going to lie. Although I think if we played them again it would not be a blowout.

I think we stand a good chance to potentially go deep in the playoffs because *usually* we play well on the road if our opponent is also a good team.

Apparently, so, which I've just learned from you.

#1 Don't be rude to your fellow fans.

I have a new rule:

#2 Don't tell a fellow fan that they are a bandwagon jumper when their argument is logical.

Arguing and calling them a *****(but bypassing the profanity filter) like you did, is two very different things...

Mitch, go get a beer man, this loss and SaintsBro's speaking reasonably about Seattle and our team right now, is getting to you.

Oh, and using the eyeroll thing is kinda rude.

Not concerned about the playoffs considering the chances of making it from the start with a brand new D was very low. Getting 10 W's was a feat in itself. If we get in outstanding, we beat some serious odds. Also, all the talk was about Atlanta and looked how that turned out.

Very true, new coordinator and a complete scheme change. The team has done pretty well considering...
