Charles Brown benched

Did he ever come back in? I prettty much stopped paying attention.

Re: Charles Brown benched

I don't think so. Things didn't get much better when they moved Strief to the left side.

Schmohams 12-15-2013 09:43 PM

Re: Charles Brown benched

Nope, Harris played for him for the rest of the game, he wasn't much better but Sean Payton said he "saw enough" and that the benching may be permanent.

Re: Charles Brown benched

Strief moved to the left side and Harris played the right side for the rest of the game.

I wonder if Armstead gets a chance during practice this week, I don't think we see Brown on the left side again this year...

Per two million Saints fans as witness, he's still on the bench...;)

Brown has been having a pretty solid season. No sense cutting off our nose to spite our face.

You call what he's been doing solid? Only time he doesn't get beat is when he's had help. Drew had been sacked more times this year than any other year he has been with the Saints. He's not a good LT tackle. He might be better on the RT side but he is terrible on the LT.

Not just the sacks but the penaltys hes drawing also

All I know is we better draft a LT in the first couple rounds. One that can start at seasons beginning.

We have a LT tackle, but they won't let him play. He can't be any worse than Brown.

WHODATINCA 12-15-2013 11:35 PM

Re: Charles Brown benched

Drawing penalties cause he can't do the job. I'm sure Sean knows who is playing well and who isn't on his O-Line.

Re: Charles Brown benched

The Saints will need to address the front line in a big way this offseason. Unfortunately, this has to be a priority, which could mean not having enough money to sign Graham, or maybe having to let guys like Colston and Moore walk.

Re: Charles Brown benched

blame the front office and SP on this one. years of down grade and gambling on the OL has brought us to this. yes we are good but we are not the elite of the elites. road games prove it. you must win on the road no matter how ugly the win is, you must win

Re: Charles Brown benched

Brown was pulled to motivate him for this upcoming week. I'd be shocked if he didn't start. This is a once game season. We need to win this week. We secure everything if we do

Re: Charles Brown benched

Maybe we can motivate him for a game or two, but I think he's out of here come season end.

Colston and Moore are under contract.

Bushrod will be in The Pro Bowl for his season in Chicago. If Brown is starting against Carolina, we will lose. Plain and simple. As far as money next year, Will Smith, Jonathon Vilma and Roman Harper will be gone so we will have money. I can also see Drew restructuring by adding 2 more years to lower his cap figure.

Where is that logic? Brown started against Carolina last week.. Did you see the box score?

He had a bad game. Get him right for next week.

Yes I did see the game against Carolina and even in that game Brown was garbage. Drew still took heat in that game. Bottom line, Charles Brown is a bust. He needs to be replaced along with De La Puenta. They are the weak links in the O-Line. Neither is a shell of the player they replaced.

and that's why they make less than a 20% of their predecessors
guess it's time to start pointing the finger at Brees' contract again

He's been having a lot of bad games. If he isn't letting Brees get sacked he's committing a penalty. He needs to be replaced, NOW. He ain't gettin it done!

obviously isn't ready
Harris and Lelito have dressed every game they've been healthy; Armstead has been active 4 times

Thats why Drew is a leader. Yeah its a bit of good cop bad cop with Payton, but we need him this week.

Look I'm as big a Saints Fan as anyone but I'm also a realist. Chaes Brown is worse than garbage, he is a BUST. He will not be a part of the team next year, so I wont have to worry about it.

Re: Charles Brown benched

Being less predictable and running the ball more would help out the offensive line and the offense as a whole. When the ENTIRE world knows you're going to throw it 40+ times a game, it's not difficult for NFL defensive coaches and their players to scheme and produce against you.

I really think Drew is going to realize that he won't live to see the end of that contract without a major restructure in order to buy himself protection. I wouldn't mind seeing Ore at Lt where he played in college. He won't command too much.

play Armsted AND Brown on the left side...extra lineman 1 less WR/TE...imagine Armsted leading PT on a screen

Worth a try.

I really want to see Sean's play calling go all gunslinger -- where is the risk taking SP?! We need THAT GUY!!!

I think drastic personnel swaps at this point are too dangerous, but I wouldn't mind some philosophical play calling changes.

I think a hurry up 2 minute offense from start to finish would absolutely destroy our opponent.

SaintsBro 12-16-2013 07:01 PM

Re: Charles Brown benched

Since they used to do the hurry up, and obviously don't do it anymore, I am assuming there is some reason they don't; I'd have to imagine by this point in the season they have tried it in practice and the coaches don't like what they see. Maybe some of our guys are too old and get gassed, I don't know,LOL. Seems like they don't even start running it until 2 minutes in the 4th, when they're down by 2 or more scores. I really have no idea why it isn't a staple of what we do this year. The Pats run it and it changes the tempo and keeps the D back on their heels.

Dude, could not agree with you more. This is why I would have taken a pay cut. I stay upright, get more W's, get more endorsements. He's still getting the endorsements, still winning, but man he is getting nailed. I guess he rolled the dice and took the sure thing but that's me. My body is more important than anything else. I think Peyton scaling back his salary and seeing where that got him was a factor.
