This Years Draft

Well here I go again talking about this years draft be fore the season is half way over. Anyway this is my thing who would you take with the first couple of pick the Saints have (I know that we can't give an accurate draft scenario but lets try anyway. I know that we are in need at the O-line, but I would rather see us address it in free agency. These are just two of the guys that the Saints should have a real shot at this year. And I will tell you why I like them.

Ahmad Brooks - 6'4" 250lbs and runs a 4.6 great OLB. He has even returned kicks in college. We could put him and strong side, put Courtney in the middle, and put Bockwaldt on the weak side and we would have a young talented and fast LB group for years to come.

Marlin Jackson - 6'1" 199lbs and runs 4.4 solid CB who plays the run well and is good in coverage. He is big and physical and fast, would love to have this guy. Have him come in and learn from MM just like Fakhir needs to do we could have a shut down set of corners in 2 years time.

My other CB pick would be Carlos Rodgers I just like the way he plays the game.

At linebacker, I\'d take Mitchell over Turner any day. Last year I had asked if Lehman was the OU linebacker that ran in the 4.3/40, but after having my head handed to me by an OU alum friend of mine, I was informed that it was Mitchell.

Not really, but ok. You judge a draft by the first three rounds, and I\'ll judge a draft by the last four, to determine whether or not we suck.

to be honest...until we get new guys in the front office...and coaches..yes..we will continue to bomb on draft day..last good pick we had..heck..only good pick we\'ve had in 5 years..deuce..of course..this years crop is yet to be determined...couple of possible playmakers...but nothing spectacular yet...argue that all you want..but..its just a fact..

Nothing spectacular? How about Charles Grant, LaCharles Bentley(pro bowl), Darren Howard, Courtney Watson just to name a few. The saints dont have problems drafting talent under Haslett, but they have problems developing that talent out of some players.

dude..watson has yet to even playa full year..one player on offense..and basically one on defense...bentley..grant...what good does it do to draft talent..if you can\'t coachthem?..whats worse..they get ruined by the coaching they do get...i haven\'t seen this weak of a defense ever...we stink on d..plain and simple..out offense is real hit and miss..and our o line is allready showing signs of slowing..we aren\'t even halfway through the year...and they\'re talking about realeasing hasslet...its like watching a train wreck...this year is a bust man...bad too...we just have to hope next year..we can begin to start over..and get it right

And this is what you are basing your argument on? Why draft talent if we can\'t coach it? Your original argument was we can\'t draft talent, what is this? An addendum to your previous argument?
People, when you throw out your hot sports opinions, and claim that they are factual, without any further evidence, do you actually expect everyone else to agree just because you made the claim?
I\'m done, this is silly.

Well, there have certainly been some draft blunders as well. In particular, the Sullivan disaster comes to mind - that was two first round picks... Stinchcomb has yet to play a game, and people are wondering if he\'ll ever fit in at guard or tackle, getting labeled as a tweener. Cie Grant, though not a particlularly awful player, is spending his career on the injured list. But the Sullivan debacle, that was high-profile. And it\'s not flattering.
