Why Ingram is the Answer

Lets face it. We are a HighWire act. Ultra Finesse , Quick Slants, Few Screens , Couple Shot Plays and were done. That's our Entire Arsenal.

Don't Believe me ? Let's take a Look at our Most Frustrating Losses this year. Tom Brady excluded he's of something not of this Planet. Seriously.

Jet's . Rams . Seahawks .

What Have they All In Common ? Stellar Front 4s. 3rd Down and Distance in those games ?

Average 3rd and 13 ... Which Means our first two Downs against Great Defensive Lines we are averaging on 1st and 2nd down a total net of -1.5 Yards !

My Thesis ? We abandon the run too early in the game. Especially when were on the road , especially when were down which only creates a vicious cycle of Offensive Failure. We start out right with a Nice Run on 1st Down. Miss Completely on 2nd Down And on 3rd We Put Immense Pressure on our Already embarrassingly weak Offensive Line.

The Answer ? , no it's no revolutionary Double Move Spider 2 Y banana. It's to Keep pounding the ball. As frustrating as a 2 or 3 yard gain is when we are used to setting Records we need to put things into perspective. Although its only a short gain it wares on the Defensive Line. Which later on in the drive or game creates time for Drew when we do decide to take those " Shots " downfield they are wide friggin open. Complementary football Ladies and Gentleman.

My Proposal ... Feed Ingram Early and Often. If He gets a Hole he is good for 10 ( See Dallas ) Mind you that was the Same Dallas Defense that went into Philly and Shut Down the Leagues Leading Rusher Completely. And to Date he is our only answer against physical teams such as Seattle or a San Francisco on the road.

Oh and By The Way , Have you seen him Block on Passing Plays ? There Were a Few Plays where Robert Quinn Got Jacked up after easily beating our slow and weak Tackles. Ingram was there and he Let Quinn know how he felt about him touching his Quarterback.

Facts are Facts when he gets rolling we are a different team. Either that or we just keep lobbing the ball up praying we come down with it.

To Win a Bowl you Need to run the ball. We Drafted him , lets allow him a true opportunity succeed.

Like it or Not , We'll have to go on the Road this postseason ... And We're going to need that tenacity and those yards.

You Can't Say Impossible without first saying Im Possible ...

You are forgetting that Dallas has one of the worst defenses on the planet; they are close to breaking the Saints record for most yards given up.

Ingram can run through a hole if it is wide enough for a semi; otherwise he either needs a guide dog to find it or runs into the back of his linemen. He hasn't learned to be patient and wait for the holes to open up and to be ready to hit them!

I agree that the Saints need to run more, but IMO, the Saints should trade Ingram for a more needed position.

How much would Ingram even be worth in a trade? A 5th rounder maybe?

Re: Why Ingram is the Answer

Ingram is a bust in our system. He cannot get any yards after contact. As stated if the Red Sea parts in front of him then he will get a few yards until someone acually touches him.PT and Sproles can get yards when there arent any to get and actually break tackles. In a different offense where he would get the bulk of the carries maybe he could hit his stride but it aint happeing here.
Hopefully he still has some trade value. I would take a 7th round pick for him at this point.

In our system, we would make Barry Sanders look like a bust. We don't even try to run the ball. When we do start running (and yes we can) we abruptly stop. Again, no runningback will ever look "good" in a Sean Payton offense. I think Pierre Thomas is a marquee NFL running back, but he simply does not have the yards or carries to back that up. Then again, we just don't run the ball - like we don't even try.

Oh more of "You gonna accept Ingram and Like him" threads

TBH with you these threads are like Obamacare... Forced on you and unwanted by some if not most. If we feed ingram more what about our passing game? What about PT? Sproles? Cadet?
I'm sorry he just doesn't seem to fit to me.

Wasted 1st round pick imo

Re: Why Ingram is the Answer

I would not say wasted. We were desperate for a RB and he dropped about 5 spots and was healthy. His rookie season he looked solid behind a good OL but he got hurt, then we began loosing the OL. No RB is going to have much success behind what we have now. It's patched together. We have a rookie starting this week and Brees is taking some of the worst hits in his Saints career.

Our "system" is like the Walsh 49ers and the best "fit" is a "Roger Craig" type of running back...
