8-8 and in the playoffs?

We might not need to go 11-5 or 10-6 to make the playoffs... I mean whoever wins the division gets in. Tampa has had enough injuries and inconsistent QB play to keep themselves out of things. Carolina has had even more injuries and incosistent QB play. Atlanta has looked good early on, but we all saw what happen to them this weekend. However, I still think it is a toss up between us and them...

Atlanta is 5-2
@Denver loss They will prolly run all over the Falcons like KC did...
bye
Tampa win Tampa just doesnt have the offense to beat Atlanta unless their D shuts down Vick.
@Giants loss They have too much balance and a good pass rush...
NO toss up... but we need it so loss We have to beat them to get in...
@Tampa win Still dont have the talent...
Oakland loss Oakland can pass if Collins gets time. They might find a running game by week 14...
Carolina loss Carolina should be healthy and they have a great front 4 and a solid run game...
@ NO loss We cant let them take one in our house if the playoffs are on the line.
@Seattle loss If they turn it around they will be fighting for a playoff spot so they wont want to give one up at home in week 17

This is a best case scenario for us... Not to mention if Vick goes down then its in the bag... So they go 7-9 or if we give them Oakland 8 and 8... That means if we go 8-8 and beat Atlanta twice we are in.

The next 3 games are key. We need at least one of them. San D can run, KC can run, and Denver can run... so we need sumthing. I think we can take SanD if we can get to Brees... KC will be a tough one, but if our O can outscore there O we might be able to win that one too... and Denver isnt a great team. So we could beat them... Then our division and the Cowboys is what we have left. I think we can take them all... That puts us at lets say 10-6, 9-5, or hell even 8-8 and we are still in the playoffs if we can take out Atlanta...

What do you guys think?

8-8 and in the playoffs?

I think that Haslett will stay but only with a new GM and totally revamped Coaching staff but if he is married to his cordinators then he has to go. On another subject if most of all the players really like Haslett like they say they do then they need to get off their asses and play like it, to help him keep his job, kinda like what the Giants did for Fassel a few years back.

I dunno, if my coach told me I couldn\'t listen to music in my team\'s locker room, I\'d be pretty p\'d off...

Is it just a coincidence, or am I right when I say that I haven\'t seen Haslett trying to get the players up? He never seems like he\'s trying to motivate the team, and I almost never see him talking with players...

Come on MightDuck....

You say you don\'t see HAZ pumping the team up or talking to them, etc....

Man, how many seconds a game is the camera on Haz? You think the TV Gods want to show a coach talking to his player? Nah, people switch channels.

SycoSurfer, I like the way you think....optomistic. It can happen, we may get in the playoffs a la the backdoor. But if they didn\'t win in the playoffs, I would still want Venturi gone and maybe McCarthy if not HAZ as well.

The way they are playing, it would be shameful for football if they made the playoffs. They do not deserve the playoffs with their play. If they can step up and earn a spot, c-ool. If not, Benson needs to act, and I think he will. The pressure is really high from the fans.

I, personally would not be happy if we simply made the playoffs because Vick got hurt, and every other team sucks so bad that we make it in at 8-8. That\'s just me. I realize that\'s how the NFL works, but i would still be asking for heads to roll down the Missi-sip.

Point is, do you really want the playoffs this year?? We get in at 8-8, and then get steamrolled. What\'s the friggin point? Haz keeps his job probably if it happens.

EXACTLY - This team making the playoffs is probably a bad thing! Unless something seriously changes for the better - this team has all of the same problems that it did last year, and the year before... This team IS worse. Haslett needs to go. Making the playoffs by default at 8-8 isn\'t an accomplishment and doesn\'t make this team a real contender.

8-8 and in the playoffs?

I never said it would be an accomplishment to make the playoffs at 8-8 nor did I say it would be a good thing. Im just saying it could happen. I mean I dont want to sit here and think that the season is already over. However, if we make the playoffs ANYTHING can happen. Our team might decide it wants to play and we win a game or two... Wouldnt hurt their confidence to win another playoff game. I sure wouldnt complain. You guys are acting like you want to pack it up call it a season and prepare for the draft. We have 9 games left!

I think that even if we make the playoffs with a not so hot record HaZ is gone. I mean we have to much talent to struggle every year to only have a 500 record. I mean making the playoffs can never hurt, but hoping we dont make the playoffs so we can get a new coach is kinda childish. I mean a fan wants the best for this team. In the long run that might be getting rid of Haz, but this year it is winning with Haz.

As for the players liking Haz... I dont think that matters much. Lets look at the last coach to be fired. I know its college, but that just means the coach can be a lot closer to the players. Ron Zook was loved by the team and they feel bad that he got fired. I heard there was even a yelling match with the players and the Athletic Director. That shows that its not always about the coach player relationship. You need to see results. Zook has had a solid record and been to a bowl game every year. However, he never lived up to the expectations and neither did the players... So therefore changes needed to be made. Same with us. I think we will have another avg. year under achieve and that will get Haz fired.

I might be optomistic, but its better to have sumthing to cheer for than to not have sumthing to cheer for. I mean you ppl that think this season is a wash stop watching. I mean they arent going anywhere whats the point? I know you wont... thats what Im getting at. Id rather lie to myself and think they have a shot than to tell myself the season is over before it really is...

Turn it around! Go Saints!

I hate to say this but I have to. It seems any running game in the nfl can run for 100 yards against us. I mean only teams that havn\'t since we faced them where the Rams and Raiders. **** if we where able to keep teams to under 20 points we would probably be undefeated. I mean every game played so far the Saints scored over 20 points except for Seattle. Bye the way i\'m not so embarassed of Emmit running for 100 yards against us after what he did to seattle. Still a 36 year old running for 100 yards on any defense is embarassing. I mean 36 is not old in real life but in football it is ancient.

And in the next 4-5 weeks we\'ll be playing rushing offenses that are in the top 5.

And the Cards. We only scored 10 against the Cardinal defense.

very true.
