Re: Sean Payton talks Sunday's loss to Carolina Panthers
1. Seems to me that Payton always tries to be even-handed with his analysis. I hear it from him in every presser. He is never like wow, mind blowing play when we win, and he is not like we are lower than snail **** when we lose.
2. He has just played bad cop, remember? He just fired some people!! 3. No sense putting a beat down on his players for a second time today. They all knew the import of this game. Time to play good cop and give his players some credit. 4. Tomorrow they will review film and talk about the mistakes. There will be plenty of time for critique of all types and not in front of TV cameras. 5. We have at least 1 more game to play and probably 2 more. So, Payton needs to keep this team's spirits up. He needs them to play for him. All I can say is it's a good thing some of you aren't coaching our team. Coaches have to talk about more than just the boneheaded execution. |
Shutdown defense in 2017 = Championship!

Re: Sean Payton talks Sunday's loss to Carolina Panthers
He's positive about the players because, MAYBE (doubtful), he understands his arrogance in regards to his playcalling and not pounding Ingram and Robinson when it the run game was not only working but gashing the Panthers D, is why the Saints lost today. I love Payton and I love Drew. But, you have to take what the defense gives you. The run was working, on a bad weather day, and Payton and Drew insist on trying to win the game "their" way. The o-line was getting whipped by the front seven in the Panthers. Why? One, they're very talented. Two, they knew they could pin their ears back and attack because Payton and Drew ARE going to throw the ball 40+ times a game. If Payton wants to fool and outsheme the opponet, the answer is right in front of him. RUN THE DANG BALL! And on top of that, then Drew and the o-line become MORE effective. It ain't rocket science Son.
