Re: Brees says he held the ball too long a few times against Panthers
Drew Brees, just like any other "elite" QB constantly under pressure, loses his normal effectiveness no matter what the weather.

Re: Brees says he held the ball too long a few times against Panthers
What I do find surprising is his aversion to throwing the ball away when there are seemingly no options.
Another possibility is his lateness on checkdown. |
Re: Brees says he held the ball too long a few times against Panthers
Drew Brees read progression on non-screen passes:
Graham Graham Col ... Graham Graham Moo ... Graham Graham Wat ... Graham Stil ... Graham Graham Pier ... Graham Graham Graham (sack) Graham Graham Cruel, but I thought it would be funny. |
Re: Brees says he held the ball too long a few times against Panthers
Brees - Kenny stills is wide open, jimmy graham is in triple coverage
I'll take my chances for a highlight reel play |
Re: Brees says he held the ball too long a few times against Panthers
I have sorta been in denial about it for a long time, but I am beginning to think that some of Brees' bone-headed interceptions ARE in fact, because, as has been said a million times, he is SHORT. I think guys get to lurking behind the linemen and they sorta become invisible to him. They showed one angle yesterday on the Keuchly interception and I was like, oh....light bulb went off. Especially the freakazoid "WTF?" INT's that linebackers get from Brees, that just appear completely incomprehensible and knuckleheaded to people viewing the whole field from the side. I think it's not inconceivable that defenses are actually scheming for this and encouraging it, knowing that it's a weakness of his so creating situations where it happens. Of course if you say that Brees is too short, all heck breaks lose. I'm a big defender of his, just saying it's possible....
