I pretty much agree w/ all the assessments above. Solid next few years with some holes, but overall promising. My only ***** is our pass happy philosophy. I feel if we had a more credible running game, many of the issues our QB has faced, would be remedied. One member penned it correctly, we are getting too predictable. Need to stay committed to the running game, even if it takes a while to get it going.

I think Drew's heir is currently in High School. He's got at least 3 to 5 more years left.

On the outside Junior has proved the people that have been screaming to see him start knew what they were talking about. He and Jordan are a great 1 - 2 punch and have finally given us the pass rush we've been missing for a decade or more. Parys Haralson quietly mans the other side like the solid veteran he is. What we lack is depth. Victor Butler should help in that department.

why is it Jordan always slide into LB talk?

ILB are thumpers in between the tackles. They do lack the sideline to side line speed need in 34. they also level a lot to be desired in pass coverage

OLB are small and quick. great for rushing the passer but not in anchoring and holding the edge against the run. pass defense is also questionable.

It all works out if we are ahead in the game and teams have to pass. but in close games were the run is still and option. it has been proven to be a major weak link,

two choices

1 revamp the OL and add a weapon our two for Drew our 10 million dollar man

2 read 1

as drew goes so do the saints. time is over playing cute games on the offense and time to get serious again in retooling

On Drew holding the ball... If he were a rookie, I would say he needs to learn.

Drew Brees is not a rookie. He knows how and when to throw.

IF someone is open.

Good teams don't lose 3 of 4. Period. We are talented enough to figure it out, that's for sure, but we're not a good team right now and haven't been for a month.

Agreed!! But that is an issue, if no one is open, and with Brees being as experienced as he is, and he is very experienced, he could throw the ball away or run the ball instead of trying to throw something that has no chance, causing an int.

I am going to take a beat down for saying this.... The line currently is the problem, but we created it. Jonathan Goodwin, Carl nicks, Jermon bushrod... You just can put names in there for these pro bowl caliber guys and then hope that everything is gonna work it self out..... Also... People who said the loss of Aaron kromer would hurt this team... Vindicated.. There is no run blocking at all. Pass blocking is not as bad but still gets muddled if you're doing 30-40 times a game. As much as I love sporles and Thomas, I could actually see us going to a factor back, and one guy as the backup if you find the right guy... Not named Ingram That way you would almost be forced to run more, and make the screen a surprise as it is intended to be and not a focal point of the offense.

Yes and no.

The majority of the time Drew is in the pocket and it is collapsing around him.

1. If he throws it away from in the pocket its intentional grounding. Most people are not thinking about this when they are saying just throw it away. When Drew does that little shovel we all cringe at, its because he is still in the pocket and cant ground it legally.

2. Once the QB starts to run, if he can not start to slide before seeing someone coming out of his field of vision, they can totally clock him as hard as they want to.

So weighing the odds: Do you risk a 10 yard penalty, risk Luke McCowan taking the field or take a 5 yard loss on a sack?

This is not always the case but it is the majority of the time.

It is so easy for us to say he should just do x... Great QBs can overcome receivers that take abnormally long to get open or a crappy O-line but rarely can they overcome both at the same time.

I have my own litmus test for a receiving corps.. When you have Jimmy Graham on the field drawing abnormally high coverage AND you cant get one of the rest of your other receivers open there is a problem with either receiver speed or getting checked at the line.

Now... Look at our receivers Colston (8 years), Moore (9 years), Meachem (7 years)... Who is arguably our most clutch receiver? Stills (Rookie).

Meachem is the only one that can block but is that really a reason to keep a receiver on the team?

Contrary to the status quo... In the draft i am going for LT/C/WR/WR best available at those positions. It is paramount that we get Drew some receivers that can get open.

Jimmy Graham... Ohhh Jimmy... You are feast or famine my brother.

Missed Tackles - 10
Dropped Passes - 6
% Caught - 63% (Watson is 69%)
Cant run block - period

Jimmy Gets the Volume but Watson is not far behind on per pass stats
Graham Yards per Rec/ave 14.1 (Watson 12.2)
Graham Yards after catch per Rec 5.0 (Watson 4.7)
