I understand they were close games... What I am saying is that there is no evidence that running more is THE key to anything.
Exactly. We don't run the ball that well. Period.
We were 5-0 and hadn't run for sh**, other than Robinson garbage runs against Arizona. We beat Chicago, in Chicago, with 64 yards rushing.

We have Brees, and Graham, and Still, Colston, Moore, Sproles, PT, etc.
Throw it.

Let's save the tired 'we have to run' for Lombardi, Noll and Ditka. Times have changed

I think that is where the confusion is. It is not that we do not try, we just can not do it well enough consistently.

+1. Did you by chance see #95 2nd year player from Cal Mycal Kendricks last night? This guy is a special player. We will have our hands full containing him.

The Eagles have the #10 rush Defense and the #32 passing defense.

Saints Rushing yards +100 yard games
Dallas - 242 W
@New England - 131 L
@Panthers 126 L
Cardinals 104 W
@Falcons - 103 W

Obviously if rushing was key to winning we would have beat the Patriots and Panthers.
I say we can run through pass. We need to hold the ball and tire their d. A short efficient passing attack does that. We won a super bowl doing that again the Colts. We couldn't run that game

As far as the run game goes, I honestly wouldn't mind phasing Sproles out and running a Robinson and Ingram power runner backfield. I don't think we've seen them peek. Pierre Thomas has. And Sproles too.
A lot of that is poor pass protection on the road too. Lot of blame to go around on the road, and this is me agreeing with you and discussing.

Yeah, we can run through a short passing attack, in my opinion.

Graham should have a big game

We need to burn long in the passing game... Their strength is their LBs in coverage.

We need to do whatever it is that their defense is most likely to allow. Depending on their coverages, etc we need to find the holes.

They do not have a great defense, this game comes down to our offense and how well they execute.

We do, and I agree, but I am just saying we can maintain ball control through short passing attack, and they seem to be weak over the middle. Graham should have a good game

Re: Run Game Key to Winning on the Road

We express our run game through screens and short passes, it doesn't show up on stats sheets but teams respect the Saints screen system. The Eagles are fast, dead fast, we need to watch out and not chase tackles.

I cringe like you all when I see Brees running but may have to do it. I think we will see more of that like yesterday. Not forcing it, step up and take off for a small gain. It would totally catch the Eagles off guard. Nobody was home when he scored yesterday. Nobody.
