In the Payton-Brees era, what does the forum think is the reason for the Saints road playoff losses?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; We have lost to the Bears, (2006 NFCC game), PEDhawks, (2010 Divisional playoffs), and 40-whiners, (2011 Divisional playoffs). Against the Bears, it was turnovers and because the Saints abandoned the run game... Against the PEDhawks, it was turnovers, and failure ...

We have lost to the Bears, (2006 NFCC game), PEDhawks, (2010 Divisional playoffs), and 40-whiners, (2011 Divisional playoffs).

Against the Bears, it was turnovers and because the Saints abandoned the run game...

Against the PEDhawks, it was turnovers, and failure of the defense...

Against the 40-whiners, it was turnovers, (I am sensing a trend here), plus GW calling the wrong defense at the end of the game.

Except against the Bears, the Saints were winning late in those games.

In 2010 the Saints scored 36 and in 2011 they scored 32, so I don't think scoring is an issue.

Since the 'hawks and whiners had to come from behind to win, if the defense makes a play or two, the Saints probably win those two games.

In case anyone is wondering about time of possession, the Saints lead in 2 out of 3. In '06 it 25:45-35:15, '10 32:01-27:59, & in '11 31:20-28:40

That leaves turnovers.

In 2010 the Saints fumbled twice and lost one and picked off one pass.

In 2011 the Saints lost 3 fumbles and had 2 passes intercepted.

Since I have a firm grasp of the obvious, when the Saints quit committing turnovers, they will stop losing playoff games, as well as the majority of regular season games.

That loss to the Seahawks hurt. To me it's the one that stands out as nearly unforgivable. The Whiners game hurt too, but not like losing to the Seahawks did. The Bears game - we were young and two years ahead of Sean's 5 year plan at the time, so that one doesn't sting.

It is what it is. One way I can think to fix it tho...

The thing that pisses me off to the heights of pisstivity on the loss to the PEDhawks is that the Saints lost to a playoff team with a losing record!

Re: In the Payton-Brees era, what does the forum think is the reason for the Saints road playoff losses?

Its offense. Though usually D loses games away for the Saints historically. The D is playing worse than at home, again, but the suprise is that the O has started to play equally bad on away games.
In 2011 with injuries Saints put 36 pts on the seahawks, that should be a win, but the D folded again, and its a loss.
In 2012 with injuries saint put 32 pts on the 49ers, that should be a win, but the D folded again, and its a loss.

You combine the D playing at even a #10 level, and the O falling apart on away games, you get blow outs or close losses.
For the 1st time, Im not seeing the dominate #1 offense for the last 6 years. O looks confused and unable to recover on the road. Brees has lost a few games.
Bree says " We expect to score on every drive" its possible that they are to egotistical, because of success, and think they will. So, when diversity happens they are unable to cope.

Saints proved that pigs could fly in 2009.
Now its time for another miracle SuperBowl and go where no pig has gone before.

Brees is very sloppy on the road. Too many extra defensive series gets the D tired at the end of the game. Ridiculous play calling with the lead and less than a td separating.
