How to beat the Saints offense
I\'ve been thinking about this for awhile now, but as much as chemistry matters in football, football is not a chemistry game.
Unlike sports like basketball or hockey where trades are common place, you rotate players during the game to take advantage of who is working well together, in football there is too much other stuff going on in game planning for coaches to consider this kind of thing as critical - their time is needed elsewhere. Thus, I think that, perhaps unlike many other sports, football must be played by professionals. It requires players who know that stirring shiznit up is only going to hurt the team. In this sense, I can\'t really fault an organization that tries to deal its cancers (this is not a central claim here, so \"cancer\" people please try an ignore it). This is why I\'m a bit leary of claims like the following - x is causing trouble for y. Well, both x and y need to get over it and do their jobs, since that is what it is to be professional, and it matters in this sport more than in many others. Who\'s job is it to teach these kids this? Well there are a handful of people whose responsibility it is, and they are called coaches. However, it is not just the team they play for now\'s coaches that are responsible. It is the responsibility of every coach the player has ever had! Thus, our coaches suck, but there are a lot of other guys who\'ve failed our boys along the way. |
