Re: How about that run game!!
Loved it. I was afraid Sean was going to continue to try to use Ingram on screens like he does PT for a while there but I think he realized that thats for PT to do and Ingram is to run. I did not buy into the theory that Ingram needed a ton of touches to get hot, but I guess it was true. IF we do go further into the playoffs we are going to need to play JUST LIKE THIS. Dictate the pace with a strong run game and play stout defense. Thats how to win on the road in the playoffs. If we can get Drew clicking in the middle of all of it even better.

Re: How about that run game!!
Play this kind of game next week without the turnovers, we won't be looking to bad. We turnover ZERO and force 2 on them, I like our chances even more.
Plus monkey-stomping that smirk and grin off the face of Satan's Butthole Carroll @ Seattle would make my decade. |

Re: How about that run game!!
No surprise to see Ingram running the ball well... I have been saying this for weeks now. Continue to feed him the rock, and he will get you positive gains more times than not.

Re: How about that run game!!
I think Thomas being out may have been a blessing in disguise..
People on this forum for weeks now have been saying that it messes up the mojo of our backs because we switch them so often. Ingram would carry it once or twice for good gains, and then he'd be taken out in favor of Thomas/Robinson/Sproles for a good while. By the time Ingram gets back in, he doesn't have that same spark due to sitting on the sidelines forever. Without Thomas tonight, both backs were able to keep their legs warm and ready all game.. With that being said though, there is no doubt I want Thomas back for Seattle. We need all the manpower we can get for that game. |

Re: How about that run game!!
I think the key is to let Ingram run more than just 3rd/4th & 1. If he's only trying to get 2 yards, he won't get them because they'll snuff it.

Double TE sets, Jed Collins, Meachum in motion, and most importantly the O-line made huge contributions tonight. You can tell Mark's patience and vision has greatly improved. What a win yall!!!!!!

Khiry is going to be a star.He and Ingram give us a great foundation for the future. But don't count out PT and Sproles yet. Most versatile RB group in the league.
And what a difference a bad ass LT makes! |

Re: How about that run game!!
I can't document it but I remember during the SF game, Troy Aikman said Sen Payton noticed a difference in body style when Justin Smith practiced at their team facility in prep for the SB. I think that is our new vision for lineman and such.
Like he wanted to send Drew off the next few years in the same way Shanny sent Elway off-- with a running game. So tonight only surprised me in the fact we did it with this personnel. Sean Payton: Defense, run game led to Brees’ troubles in 2012 | ProFootballTalk Payton said there were times last season when he was shouting at the television while watching an offense that he didn’t think was running the ball enough in the early part of the season. |

Payton's play calling except for that end around BS -- was professional.
