Actually it's a completely legal tactic to totally mug wide receivers if the quarterback is outside the pocket. Your CB's have to be insanely athletic and physical to do it and know EXACTLY where the quarterback is while still covering their man. Not as easy as it seems.

that's bull****, you can only "mug" or press receivers within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. As long as the QB is behind the line of scrimmage(doesn't matter where), defensive pass interference is still in effect down the field

The tackle box rule only exists for intentional grounding
