The interim coaching staff is...
<Warning--sarcasm ahead>
The strategy is going to be to use in-house personnel to fill the coaching positions, so here's your new coaching staff, filled with people who weren't doing much of anything in their other jobs: OC: Stallworth DC: Sullivan O-line: Riley D-line: Sully can cover that too, don't you think? LB's: Allen Secondary: Jones QB's: don't really need one with AB at the helm Receivers: Henderson maybe? This strategy will serve two purposes: first, it will save the organization money that would otherwise be spent on hiring new coaches; and second, it will get those players off the field. But wait, you say, you haven't said who will be the new interim head coach. That one's easy: Rick Venturi. After all, he's done it twice before, with two different teams, INCLUDING your Saints. OK, so he was only 1-10 as interim coach in Indy in 1991, and only 1-7 as interim coach of the Saints in 1996 (according to sportsnetwork.com), but he's one of the most brilliant football minds out there (ask anybody in the Saints organization). Plus, winning one more game this season is about all we can hope for anyway. And, like all the other new coaches, he's already on the payroll, so it doesn't cost a dime to hire him. <bleah> |
