Because he was. Same principle as zone run blocking which he didn't fair well with. Brown, Strief..... Built for down hill blocking... Not fleet footed angle based zone or screen blocking. In standard pass blocking the first step is back/lateral and it's a recoiling or loading of the body, for run or screen it's forward or angular exploding through. For run blocking you want to hit him hard, exploding up and through the defender pushing back to the second level. In passing your more of a speed bump slowing him down long enough to get the pass off, eventually he will get there. |
