Tell the truth!!

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I thought after the way Payton looked after the !st game we played them if we got a 2nd shot we would kill them, I was wrong but it was a decent game and not a blowout....

Re: Tell the truth!!

We were simply not the same team on the road as we were in the Dome in 2013.
There were no possibilities I could imagine in mind of us going all the way after the first Seahawk game which sealed our fate.

With that said, had the Superbowl somehow gone through the Dome, then the Saints would go all the way, at least to NY. It's just the nature of the beast and we are literally that good at home.

How we ended up playing in Seattle and how we hung in there and struck fear in the eyes of the Seahawks did something to this team. I think we will be hungry and prepared for a huge run next year.

BACK at blackandgold.net after a long long long time.

Re: Tell the truth!!

I deep down, honestly believed that we could win that game if Sean Payton kept it together coaching-wise.

If we didn't try and get cute with the screen plays.

Re: Tell the truth!!

I believed we could win it. I thought we had learned our lesson the first time around, & had studied them -- I thought we had a good chance. I thought it would be our "Superbowl" and if we won, we would go to the SuperBowl and win. Looking back, now I think that was way optimistic, especially, the winning the SuperBowl part.

Now, I think that if the Seahawks get into the SB, they will lose. Live by the 12th man sword, die by it.

I believed we could win but wasn't going to be surprised if we blew it.

Re: Tell the truth!!

Yep. Thought we'd win.

Seattle scored their first 13 points by going 78yds on 17 plays... We truly have the game away.

Defense played it's best game. Offense, once again, sputtered and stalled.

Exactly. We gave them 13 pts and then woke up. If we had those 6 pts that we 1.) missed on a very makeable FG and 2.)didn't elect to try for, I know we would've won.

Be fair, Brees had a great 2nd half. He chewed up the #1 defense in the league in their park.

I certainly believed that the Saints would win. I always do and for some strange reason, I'm always left feeling shocked when they lose.

Next season can't come soon enough. No more off season drama. This team will be calibrated and with a few tweaks, the Saints will be stronger and even more determined.

Re: Tell the truth!!

I thought we could beat them, heck if we play again next Sat/Sun I think we can beat them.
Seattle is a good team and they were better than us on that particular day.
There is nothing more to read into that.
