Crusader is right. The Saints have loads of talent. They can afford to take the best player on the board. I once heard something about how one should think of their team as one full of individual players that have value based on their ability. You want the highest total value on your roster. So by picking purely based on need, you do your team a disservice by not adding the most valuable player. You never know what can happen, and you'll want that talent that was passed up.

Ridiculously deep deep DEEP crop of receivers coming out. I can't really emphasis that enough... it's absurdly deep. I'm all for BPA as well, but I'm hoping it's not a receiver with our first pick.

Re: Saints Take Brandin Cooks WR in Latest 2014 Mock Draft
Before Armstead was injected into the line, I said that OL was our biggest need. He's done a rather splendid job IMO. The running game is looking better and the line is just looking more stable.
So that moves on to the next biggest need, WR... which IMO if we find a true number receiver; we will win the Super Bowl. If you go back and look at the tape, in pretty much every game we've been beaten in... our receivers were blanketed hard... like white on rice. If we had a WR that commanded double teams, created passing lanes; the production on the team would skyrocket. |

This. Plus this kid is a second round talent that will probably be a better kick returner than receiver in the NFL. See how I always doom myself with famous last words?

Re: Saints Take Brandin Cooks WR in Latest 2014 Mock Draft
I think we take a WR in the 1st only if Mike Evans or Kelvin Benjamin falls to us, if not we take BPA and then look for Jarvis or Odell in the 2nd round. Move up in the 2nd if we have to for one
