this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Lofton is a toughest question for me going into a 3-4 D, yes he is good in a 4-3, unknown in a 3-4. Lofton is an animal on run plays, maybe he could be used like a Sam Mills type ...

Re: What to do with Curtis Lofton?
Lofton is a toughest question for me going into a 3-4 D, yes he is good in a 4-3, unknown in a 3-4. Lofton is an animal on run plays, maybe he could be used like a Sam Mills type lb in the 3-4. If we run the 4-2-5 with a 3 safety set he gets picked on in coverage. Tough call when we still need speed on the ILB. position.

we don't really play a 3-4, or a 4-3, and yes, we seem to have 3 safeties on the field a lot. We play whatever Ryan scheme has conjured up to get the 11 freshest/best players on the field, and that will almost always include Lofton. Today's fun fact: Lofton was on the field for 96% of all defensive snaps. I think Ryan might know what he is doing |
