Special Teams
Footballoutsiders.com lists the Saints as having the best special teams in the league (#1), and the Chiefs having the absolute worst (#32). I don't pretend to understand the formula they use (it's all computerized), but if that's true, we might stand a chance if we can get an early break or two on special teams. Maybe a little momentum is all we would need to turn things around.
Yeah, right. We could run back the opening kickoff for a TD, and it would still be Chiefs 17, Saints 7 after the first quarter. But at least our boys are good at one aspect of the game--probably because special teams is the aspect that requires the least input from the coaching staff, and also because speed is so important on ST. |
