Chiefs dropped the ball

KC kicking itself for letting receiver Joe Horn slip away to Saints

By ADAM TEICHER

The Kansas City Star

The Chiefs might do just about anything for a fast wide receiver who played in three of the last four Pro Bowl games and would be a perfect fit for their offensive system.

They had such a player not long ago before letting him go to New Orleans, where he blossomed into one of the game's best

They really didn\'t give Joe a chance. But then again they made Eddie Kinnison a star. He couldn\'t do anything here and all of a sudden he\'s a production guy for the Chiefs.

We didn\'t really give Joe a chance, you\'re right. I think Kennison\'s production has been as much a product of realizing what he had when Dick Vermiel gave him another shot -- he knew he had to work and had a lot of respect of DV. We cut Joe just as he was ascending, but I think the article is right -- NO\'s offer to him was never going to be matched. If we\'d signed him earlier we\'d have kept him.

Floyd Turner and Eric Martin were great Saints wide receivers, but they are nothing compared to Joe Horn. He brings the intensity to the Saints they have needed for a long time. AND, every Saint fan loves the fact that the Saints finally have someone who can talk trash and back. Bottom line, Horn is a WARRIOR!!

Sure, I\'m happy we\'ve got Horn. Wish we had someone to throw the ball to him (instead of Gandy). I\'m not sure I can call Kennison a star. I like Kennison, but he\'s a decent #2 WR at best, something of a Todd Pinkston or Rod Gardner. And I dunno what the ****\'s up with that Johnnie Morton \"worm\" dance. Isn\'t he a little old to be putting his back through that? Whether I like it or not, I\'m afraid I may have to see it \"live in person\" this weekend...
