Very good Pat Kirwan article...

The NFL combine is over, and we watched 335 young men compete for 256 draft spots. Approximately 20 players will be drafted who didn't attend, so there really are about 246 draft spots which means about 90 of the candidates at the combine will not be drafted.

The mountain of information gathered needs to be deciphered as the draft approaches, because what happens at the combine can be misleading.

"If we thought a guy played fast, but came to the combine and ran slow, we go back and look at the film," said former Oakland Raiders college scouting director Jon Kingdon, who had 33 years on the job, in an interview with me this week. "And the same for the guy that ran fast in Indianapolis but didn't play fast."

The point: There still is lots of work to be done before the draft, but plenty of players made an impression at Indianapolis.

Good stuff. I love Kirwan.

I wonder what the reaction would be if Clinton-Dix fell to us at 27. Another Alabama safety? That would be fun to discuss.

Odd that Jarvis Landry had a poor 40 but looks to have improved his stock.

I like a lot of his 2nd round gems that might sneak into the 1st...

Nothing to do with him playing for Bama, I just don't see all the hype in his game. I know the stats are there but watching him in games I would stay away if he was at 27.

I would have no problem with the pick myself. not my #1 targeted player but not a bad boobie prize at all but i still would prefer a quick CB

hell ya baby. imagine if 2 of the so called top three QB are still on the board when we pick? IMO should happen. I just think the group is over hyped in round 1. solid group of second round talent but QB can not hold a stick to the depth and quality of the rest of the draft.

we are hosed. gotta do some reaching then and like you said this is a good year to reach if you have too. though if it is the kid from south central i would have to ponder at this point.

lmao at 27 the saints select Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida. i magine the uproar and the phone calls you might get or might not.
