Colts cut starting center Samson Satele
Worth a look?
The Colts are saying goodbye to their starting center. Samson Satele, who started 13 regular-season games and both playoff games for the Colts last season, has been released, as first reported by Mike Klis of the Denver Post. A 2007 second-round pick of the Dolphins, Satele has been a starter throughout his seven-year career in Miami, Oakland and Indianapolis. At age 29, Satele still has some time left in him, but the Colts apparently decided he wasn’t worth the $4 million he was owed in 2014. This guy really epitomizes what is going to be a legitimate complaint by the Players Association: he is one of many, many vets losing their jobs this year as a cap casualty. PA is going to make a big push for salary cap increase because this list is getting longer and longer |

Maybe the PA should at home at the QBs,T and WR eating up the cap space.
I would say $130ml a year split between 60 is a pretty heft amount considering that a fair few of the 60 will be low paid UDFA/VETS and rookies on the new rookie pay scale |

If he isn't worth 4 million, I'll pass. DLP is worth about that and played better as the season progressed. I think we either resign DLP, or go with Elliot and a draft prospect.

Though some players excel in some places more than others, I'd rather geaux draft or UDFA than make a parallel move from DLP to Satele...
DLP did improve, or did that improvement curve coincide with Jahri Evans health improving as well?!? Either way, I'd like to invest a draft pick in a Center like Larsen or Bodine and maybe extend an opportunity to a real hungry UDFA... Give that candidate a legitimate chance for the dignity of NFL stardom and having Drew Brees hands up his arse... ;) |
