Re: First Signs of PT leaving
I'm loving this in large part due to the play book rewrite that will ensue to maximize on the new talent.
I don't feel bad about them being let go, more about them leaving. If that makes sense. PT for example - Worked for the same company for 7 years fresh out of college and made $11,200,000.00 . Would you be sad if I told you "work for me for just 7 years and I'll pay you $11.2m? |
Re: First Signs of PT leaving
It's not his place to tweet the news if indeed true in my opinion.

Re: First Signs of PT leaving
Will Malcolm be joining them as well?
|
Re: First Signs of PT leaving
Im unsure on this overall.
I like the idea of getting the team yonger and faster but with limited cap space over the next two years and Drew Brees being 37 by the end of the 2015 season there is a risk here of wasting his best remaining years. The next few weeks will say everything that needs to be said. I wonder if after next season we are are going to be in for a few shocks with the top players getting traded or dumped. Im guessing coach has a plan |
Re: First Signs of PT leaving
Robinson, Cadet, & Ingram are all young & promising. Cadet will replace Sproles as the swing back & PR. Morgan will also return punts as well.

Remember, Cam Jordan is a free-agent next year and thats gonna be a 12 million/season deal. And if we don't sign Jimmy this year he'll be a free agent next year too. And then the following year Hicks and Galette... |
Re: First Signs of PT leaving
I agree with you 100% @Danno

Re: First Signs of PT leaving
If PT leaves that will really be the one that hurts me. But I can't argue with it either, not when Robinson is just as productive and 1/4th the price.
|
Re: First Signs of PT leaving
Other cuts are understandable but PT leaving will hurt us. I'm not talking about YPC. I'm talking about everything else he does on the field.

Thanks for the memories PT!
Never met a screen play he did not like. |

Like others have said, this one will hurt. I'm gonna be dreading his farewell message all day now.

Re: First Signs of PT leaving
We're going to see the Khiry and Ingram pain train. Now while I loved Thomas and Sproles to death, if they were on the team, we were going to fall back into old habits and continue to throw the ball a billion times a game.
Sometimes you just have to know when to let go. |

The flip-side is that with out dynamic versatile running backs, Sean Payton will have to actually RUN the ball. Is call that a blessing towards balance. |

Not one of them players stole a penny. It may not have been there best year at the Saints but they all put the effort in,you could accuse any of them of taking a day off and prtecting themselves .Plenty of players have phoned it in and could be accused of stealing money, not them three |

Let them over pay for Jenkins, hopefully that will allow Clinton-Dix or Pryor to fall to us in the first.

Re: First Signs of PT leaving
Here is what a lot of people are missing...
Some teams just don't know when its time to part with some players... At least we are moving on before they lose a step and we find out during a season. |

Re: First Signs of PT leaving
Looks guys its time we all faced reality:
1.)Lance Moore was set to make $5 Mill + as our #3 WR. Too much money for too little production. 2.) Darren Sproles gain less than half of what he gained 2 seasons ago. 3.) Pierre Thomas' YPC were like 3.7, which the much maligned Mark Ingrams was 4.9 and K.Robinsons 4.5(I believe). 4.) The fact that two of these players were undrafted players who were able to be productive within our system speaks volumes for both the system and the player personnel development. We consistently find gems(Galette, K. Stills, Robinson, Morgan) that other teams don't. We'll be fine and 12-4 next year. Relax. |
Re: First Signs of PT leaving
i think the fact Darren is gone now grrr is an indicator that more than likely PT might have seen his odds improved in regards to possible remaining with saints.
enough adjectives an adverbs in the disclaimer? I see PT signing an extension at lower cap numbers but more money up front and in pocket. no way the saints will gamble on protection drew at this point. they already hung him out to dry last year with all the risk taking they did on the OL the past few years. if the do not i say trade drew and do not get him killed This year the offense let us down for the first time. imagine what might have been if drew had that one or two extra seconds in the pocket on a few key plays in just those handful of games that could have changed everything down the stretch? hand grenades and horse shoes i know but aint it the simple truth? first have your best all around back help coach up the young pups second see if the changes up front work third then decide it's that freaking simple folks. For the love of god and all that is holy this is the grail of football wisdom. |

Which can have a value unto its own. Seattle rolls on a lot of youth and ignorance. Kapernick was in a Super Bowl before he realized he was in the NFL. |

Think about that for a second: Brees Evans Colston We are rock solid on veterans on our side of the ball. I would say more so than those other teams. |
