If Drew is replaced in the draft the QB will be under the rookie pay scale and will not be earning big money so the savings on Brees will be used to pay others.

I think the rules under retirement also help out the cap...

I'm still in giddy disbelief over this whole thing. If it pans out then you can put this one up there alongside the acquisitions of Brees and Sproles in terms of the dynamic elements each brought to the team. And the fact that we're pairing an All-pro in his prime with the quickly developing monster that is Kenny V is just over the top.

I've come to expect things like this to happen every few years on offense under Payton. He will always have his toy(s).. but to finally have our prayers starting to be answered on defense is almost too much joy for my heart to take.. almost. What a day to be a Saints fan
