PT will remain a Saint. 2 year extension. Congrats to the Saints and PT. Time to fly.

Can't say im unhappy with that backfield.

Good news. Can't stress how important PT is to our offense.

I wonder what the cap savings are.

Great news.

Re: P Thomas gets 2 year extension

I like this but I am starting to lean more towards the Ingram/Robinson combo. Wish we would decide on what we want to do with the RB position. 2 is plenty, 3 is a crowd(but understandable for injury possibilities), 4 I just don't understand.

Great news.

First thing that came to mind was sign and trade. Possibility?

Love it! It will save us some money and we get to keep a true fan favorite! Pierre's part of the heart and soul of the Saints.

Re: P Thomas gets 2 year extension

Now that the running back and safety positions are taken care of, let's get our center back, and restructure a few contracts to land a great WR or DE

I think ingram and khiry will see increased snaps, but I'm not going to complain about PT getting an extension! Great news

Possible, but, unlikely I think. Curious to see how much this saves in cap space.

Re: P Thomas gets 2 year extension

It's a great move.

Ingram hasn't proven he can carry the load with the constant niggling injuries and is only under contract one more year. Robinson still has everything to prove.

Thomas can can run, receive and most importantly is the best blocking RB we have.

Awesome, me being a PT fan since his rookie year trying to make the roster in preseason. He is a hustler. His cut would of hurt the most to me.

LOVE IT. We need PT way more than we needed Sproles. The screen play is back baby!

We will prolly see mostly ingram/robinson but PT is our screen game

Curious to see what we get for Sproles or maybe he will restructure.

I love what PT brings to the screen game and I'm happy they kept him but man this keeps the offensive being predictable

Re: P Thomas gets 2 year extension

He was set to make 2.5 million plus a 300K roster bonus this year, wonder how much the extension dropped his cap?

Wouldn't we want to test Robinson though with the screen due to his speed?

Im not sure, i mean PT is among the best so why not use him if you have him, and keep robinson fresh to run up the gut

Lol its called credit cards, pay it back later, the are pushing the high cap hits back to when brees contract is up that away they can have great players with brees and win, while hes still here. Also his contract takes a good bit of the money so when thats out the way they can spend it on the rest of the team from what im seeing

Ingram? What has he done to give anyone confidence that he could be the go to guy? PT is a proven commodity and more versatile than Ingram.

Nothing more than lead all our backs with 4.9 yards per carry last year... Thomas was 3.7 for comparison

And as great as Ingram was late in the season, he was garbage and/or injured until about week 10 or 11.

No offense to Ingram fans, I still don't fully trust the guy. I'd like to see him carry the load for more than a 5 game stretch before annointing him as the lead back. Don't get me wrong, I think the "starting" job is his to lose going into next season, but keeping PT around as an insurance policy is a smart, smart move.

Re: P Thomas gets 2 year extension

I understand the move. I hope he's real cheap. But, I personally would have liked to see an Ingram/Robinson combo. Having Thomas back most likely means the horrible rotation of one play per back will continue.

I still have visions of Ingram fumble during the Seahawks playoff game. Trust?

Mark Ingram talks about the fumble vs Seahawks

I also remember him owning the Eagles in the playoff game prior... :bng: 18 for 97 - 5.4 YPC - 1 TD

Let's celebrate PT.

Plenty of time and opportunity throughout the season to debate Ingram.

Welcome back Pierre Thomas!

I like the idea of having PT back, but I want to know how this affects the cap. It may be set up to save cap space.

Why is it people continue to bring up Ingram's fumble but neglect to mention Lance Moore's muff that led to 7 points, Sproles' muff that led to 3 points and Sproles' fumble?
