I still have night terrors about Jason David. Mare should have been in there somewhere.

Jason David.

Not so much the financial commitment, but the belief that he could cover anyone...

Totally agree about Chamberlain, that was an unfortunate injury to a surging, peaking linebacker...

Disagree with article about Aubrayo Franklin as a bad player; the mistake was we were not yet in a 34 which Franklin was better suited so the FO failed there...

When you balance Brees against what the FO has done in Free Agency, it's no contest; but they haven't done well in FA overall...

Keenan Lewis signing doesn't get the fanfare, but that was probably as impressive a signing the Saints have had save Brees...

After the Grubbs signing, an overpay for a glorified secondary tier lineman, I just hope with Byrd that we're due - but those numbers concern me...

Ben Watson though has been a good depth signing; DLP worked out fair enough...

Bringing back Meachem was solid...

The signing of Inside Linebackers Lofton and Hawthorne has been underwhelming with team unfavorable contracts; though I disagree with PFF that Hawthorne has played completely poorly; but those positions need upgrading...

I will say that none of those guys were locker room issues. Have to hand it to Payton in that dept. I honestly can't think of one player under him who has caused grief for the team and fans which is almost impossible to do in the NFL.

Well, if you count GW a FA signing then there you have bucket-loads of grief for the team, fans and the city.

[QUOTE=Jack Vegas;583594]Without reading my guesses are:

Jason David
Olin Kreutz
Brian Simmons
Olindo Mare
.....?

Don't know

After looking at the list I really disagree with Aubrayo Franklin on there. He was actually solid that year. Sedrick Ellis was the one who sucked out loud. Rogers was kind of a waste though.

Ellis was a draft pick not FA signing and he was decent his first 3 years

many signings under Gary Gibbs were bad, Kaesviharn was down right awful.

But the Saints were so bad on defense in 2007 and 08 due to them signing 3rd string guys and putting them as starter. Part reason why some guys on defense that was better managed to hang around for so long afterward, they looked better due to lack of competition and remained on a roster afterward, when in truth they were not starting material. Reason why Rob Ryan when he came in, their no Vilma, Will Smith, and such on the field, Harper was there, but hes gone thank goodness, that was the weak link in the defense.

It doesn't work it's bad. It doesn't produce it's bad. Money thrown away is bad. Right/Wrong. Good/Bad. No excuses. That's life.
