You get three guesses and the first 2 don't count for who made #1!

The Saints Five Worst Free Agent Signings in the Sean Payton Era

Re: Top 5 Worst Free Agent Signings in the Sean Payton Era

I remember Chamberlain looked so fast during the initial stages of the first preseason after he had signed with the Saints. Then he had that horrible injury going into the second quarter of the first preseason game and was a non-factor after that during his whole Saints' tenure.

I was very excited about his signing back in the day - mainly because he played as a safety in college (=good pass defense) - but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

Also, I don't agree with the assessment of Franklin. He played much better out of his natural position than people have given him credit for.

Pretty damn accurate. Alex Brown sucked too.

If that's the list, then we've done a good job. None were really big time financial investments.

Saints do a good job finding the right fit. There have been much worse signings. ie Albert Haynesworth, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Matt Flynn

Without reading my guesses are:

Jason David
Olin Kreutz
Brian Simmons
Olindo Mare
.....?

Don't know

After looking at the list I really disagree with Aubrayo Franklin on there. He was actually solid that year. Sedrick Ellis was the one who sucked out loud. Rogers was kind of a waste though.

Still say Simmons should be on the list. Was brought in to start at middle linebacker, but he couldn't even beat out Simoneau. Then was moved to the weak side, where he couldn't beat out Shanle. When both Simoneau and Shanle are better than you, you stink.

WTF is that list? Injuries and retirement are not failures in signing FAs, it's life.
