Re: Saints Considering Sidney Rice

Preston Parker outplayed everyone in preseason, at wide receiver and kick returner and still got cut

I wish we had kept him around and used him on returns instead of sproles

Which is exactly why he's a bargain bin type free agent vet.

If he could stay healthy he'd cost 3 times as much.

Its the kind of player you keep on the phone squad in case you need a guy for 3 or 4 weeks, or to hold the fort until some rookie develops.

We aren't looking at him for anything other than a cheap but talented stop gap vet with some major upside if he can stay healthy.

IMO he would be a nice luxury if we had the money, but he is way too injury prone to bring in just as a luxury.

I'm glad our fans aren't GM's. Colston and Lance Moore would be here until they're 40. Andy Tanner would be a starter. Jimmy Graham would be getting $17 million a year. The ship would sink so fast. Lol.

???Were good on receiver? Right now our top three receivers are Colston, Stills and Meachem. And you can't get straight line speed guys in the later rounds. Unless they have stone hands and what good is that? Darrius Heyward Bay........

Sorry Danno, too many "If's Here"…"If he can stay healthy" is the point…he can't and hasn't yet. Pass.

Rice played a full season in 2012. Did not put up the numbers he did in 09. But if he stays healthy in this offense 70-80 catches with a possible 1000 yard season is not out of the question.

I like the idea of buying low on Rice, and drafting a receiver in round one.
