I understand that we don't have any money to do it this Year and Jordon was just a Example player. What im saying why do we and every other team wait till player X is going to get franchised before they give them a new deal when everyone knows they aren't going to let player x hit the open market.seems like teams would be able to get players to sign for less than the franchise rate if the would try to get a deal done before the last minute

Re: We Had the worst Cap situation in the League.
With the new CBA they have to wait until after the 3rd year of a rookie contract, I believe...

Loomis and Co. have proven year after year after year that this thing is fully under control. A true poker player never shows all of his cards. Re: We Had the worst Cap situation in the League.
This was not some "impulsive," crazy reckless move by Loomis to sign Byrd. It's like the proverbial saying about chess, "thinking three (or 4, 5, or 6) chess moves ahead of the game." Whenever Loomis does "X" with a player, when he moves a piece on the board, he is also thinking about Y and Z and also next year's A, B, C, D, E, etc. There is always a clear path to get us comfortably under the cap this year and next, and get the people signed we need to get signed to stay competitive. We (and the writers of that article) just can't see it yet.
