The position has been slowly evolving for a few years, he is just one of the first fulltime receiving TE's.

He isn't in tve same league as Calvin as a WR, nobody is. I do not remember seeibg CJ go up with alligator arms to often either.

I want 2 picks for the dude, Jimmy. We don't have the money. So either he plays for tag money or possibly get 2 picks if he bails.

He was drafted as a TE, he made all his records as a TE, he will go down in history as the BEST TE to ever play the game. He will NEVER be a great WR. Those are the facts, and when all is said and done, JG will go into the HALL OF FAME as a TE. Time to move on Jimmy, time to move on.

Remember when the TE moved into the backfield and instantly became an "H Back" what happened to that designation?

H Back was never a position on Madden (lol) or NFL rosters. Just the depth charts of certain teams.

If JG could outrun a lb, he would be a hybrid. If he could outrun a cb, he would be a wr.

Not being able to do either makes him a TE. He only lines up wide because Brees can't see him inside the pocket. If Brees was taller...

He led the NFL with 16 receiving TD and caught more fade routes than anyone in the league. I say just put him at WR permanently and get a Hoby Brenner type(slow dependable receiver/blocks like a tackle) to play TE. He's as good a WR as Calvin Johnson when he's healthy.

He does not line up as a Wide Receiver. He lines up in the slot and the slot is not a position, it is a duty. WRs, TEs, RBs, all line up there during games.

Slot Receiver is not defined as a position in the CBA, if he played Center that would be a different story. Guard and Tackle are clearly defined rolls on the field, lining up in the slot is not.

That said, he was drafted as a TE, he allowed his name to be put in record books as a TE, he has answered questions about being compared to other TEs, and when he goes to meetings or practice it is with the TEs.

He has been a duck for three years, he is not a goose just because its contract time, or because he out preforms other geese.

Jimmy could be 8' tall, you still couldn't see him through 325 lbs of 6'8" Ty Nsekhe.

The building outside of my office window is 37 stories tall, i cant see it behind 5" of hand over my eyes. Its about angle and distance of object between.

Re: Brees clarifies statement, says Graham defines new position

I have kept pretty quiet about JG's contract and his pouting about being labeled as a TE.

Here's what I have to say on the subject.

Jimmy,

I will be direct and to the point. You say you're not a TE and deserve WR money. Everyone but you, your family and your agent think otherwise. You have gained fame because you have had a HoF QB throwing you the ball and a HoF Coach making sure you get the ball. Now, we all agree you are talented. We don't debate that. Ask Robert Meacham how his "game" faired when he didn't have Drew throwing him the ball.

On countless occasions you have talked about Tony Gonz being someone you look up too and how you want to be as good as he was. HE'S A TE! Gronk, IS A TE! If the money is the only thing you are chasing; fine, chase it. But don't handcuff our team just so you "can get paid". If you don't want to be labeled a TE and want WR money; fine. Prove to me you're a man and tell the NFL Records keepers to remove your name from the TE records books. After all, money means so much more than your legacy, right?

I don't fault you for trying to get paid. You have to look out for yourself and your family. Got it. I do fault you and your agent for making it seem as you are being treated unfairly.

Sincerly,
Sapper

P.S. Jimmy, You cam PM me if you would like to rebute the open letter I have typed.
