Sproles - Gone
Moore - Gone
Meachem - Gone
Colston - fighting injury
Morgan - injury prone
Graham - foot battles
Stills - good to go
Toon - drops
Tanner... ?
Givens.... ?
Hawkins .....?
Beckham would give us the WR version of Bush/Sproles. Kinda our own Percy Harvin without the injury bug.

Moncrief would give us just an all around good WR. Perhaps Colston Part II

SJB would be a good project at CB. Long and rangy.

The more I read about Moncrief the more I wonder why he's not projected as a late 1st early 2nd?

Possibly this?

WEAKNESSES: Perhaps the only thing standing in Moncrief's way of becoming the first "skill-position" player from Mississippi to earn a first round draft selection since Eli Manning (No. 1 overall, 2004) is the question about his straight-line speed. Moncrief was not caught from behind on tapes viewed but the big-bodied receiver may not possess elite timed speed.
Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

Negatives
Donte Moncrief Scouting Report: NFL Outlook for Mississippi WR | Bleacher Report
Takes a very passive approach to catching the ball, and usually lets the ball come into his chest rather than catching away from his body.
Struggles to focus on the ball when locked in tight coverage and misses a lot of difficult but catchable passes.
Body control is poor—struggles to position himself to box out the defender and adjust to the ball quickly enough to make plays as a possession receiver.
Phenomenal workout numbers, but it doesn't always translate to the field.
40-yard dash and 10-yard split times just didn't translate to consistent separation in college.
Tried to play like a pure speed receiver in college but he doesn't have the elite separation ability to play that same role in the NFL and will need to develop his ability to win with his size.
Frequently failed to get on the same page with his quarterback in terms of depth and timing of routes; it wasn't always necessarily his fault, but its an issue worth inquiring about.
Athletic enough to make one move after the catch but lacks the agility to put together multiple moves to weave his way through traffic.

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. ~ Henry David Thoreau

Matthews will be a Saint. But if we don't get a stud C we could have 10 Speedy Gonzalos's and it want matter. No time to throw or step up to throw.

Also concerns...

He was invited to the Senior Bowl, where he sported a good frame with long arms (32 5/8 inches) and big hands, but he dropped a handful of passes throughout the week of practice and failed to consistently gain separation from cornerbacks.

Re: Colston still hurt

I can't say that I am a huge fan of Beckham. I was looking at his stats from this year and he really made his hey against Furman, UAB, and Mississippi State. He played well against Georgia, but was held in check against Alabama and Auburn. When it comes to looking at prospects I like to see what the actual production is like rather than potential. I'm also weary of any LSU receivers in the draft. Again, you can't question how good a program LSU has, but outside of Bowe (and he has had a questionable career to this point) they just don't produce consistently in the NFL.

Personally I'd prefer Cooks or Lee if they fall to 27. If not, best player available or best defensive player on the board would not hurt us.

a lot of his lower production was from the qb being on his asse and couldn't get the ball out, but ill respect ur input. the guy will be a star in the nfl, he will be a steve smith type receiver with better hands i'm just saying.

Re: Colston still hurt

Loomis likes to sell tickets... There will be at least 1 LSU player picked up this year.

I believe 2013 is the only year that we have not had at least 1 since Sean Payton got here.

I respect your opinion as well, St. Thomas. If the Saints take Beckham I'll hope you are right and I am wrong. Its just the track record of LSU receivers that worries me.
hagan714 and Rugby Saint II like this.
